(CBS News) The State Department said Thursday the Syrian dictatorship is preparing a massacre in Syria’s largest city, Aleppo. Aleppo is a city of more than 3 million people, the size of Los Angeles. Refugees are pouring out of town. It was a year and a half ago that a popular uprising rebelled against the 42-year-old dictatorship of the Assad family. Rebels have taken some Aleppo’s neighborhoods. One recent photograph from the embattled city stands out: Five-year-old Mohammad Amumrej, wounded during Syrian army shelling of the town, is whisked away for medical treatment. The rebels are also holding other pockets in Syria. One village at a time, using light weapons and homemade bombs, fighters who call themselves the Sham Falcons have accomplished something very significant: They have pushed Syrian government forces back and carved out an area of rebel control in the hills of Jebel-a-Zawya, southwest of Aleppo. Their leader, Abu Issa, is an Islamic scholar. For security reasons, he asked that we not show any part of his command center outside of one room. “Thanks to god, we currently we have between six and seven thousand fighters,” Issa said through a translator. LONDON – Amy Winehouse’s mother said the singer was not well when they met a day before she died, a British newspaper reported Sunday, while her family mourned the loss of “a wonderful daughter, sister, niece.” The Sunday Mirror 담양출장안마 quoted Janis Winehouse as saying she believed it was “only a matter of time” before her daughter died. The 27-year-old singer was found dead at her London home on Saturday. “She seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me,” Janis told the tabloid. (CBS/AP) NEW YORK – When you heard that Pulitzer Prize winner Philip Levine was appointed America’s new poet laureate, you probably wondered just what a poet laureate does. Well, for starters, he – or she – receives $35,000 and 연천출장만남 is known officially from October through May as the Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry for the U.S. The laureate has few official duties and poets before Levine have used the job to pursue a range of personal projects. For example, Billy Collins (2001-2003) started the Poetry 180 program which encourages the reading of verse in high school. The 180 refers to the 180 poems Collins selected for the program. Collins also wrote a poem to commemorate the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and read it aloud at a special joint session of Congress on Sept 6, 2002. Actor Corey Feldman claims he was stabbed; police investigating

RESEDA – Actor Corey Feldman claims he was stabbed in Reseda late Tuesday night, authorities report. According to Los Angeles police, sometime before 10 p.m. and midnight, officers were called to a Reseda residence on an assault with a deadly weapon call. CBS Los Angeles reports that police arrived to find the 46-year-old Feldman suffering from a minor stab wound to his abdomen. Police said he was stabbed with a small, sharp unknown object. Feldman transported himself to the hospital, police said. The injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. Investigators are unclear on the circumstances that led up to the stabbing and have no suspect information at this time. The exact location of the stabbing was not confirmed. At 3:38 a.m. Wednesday, Feldman tweeted a photo of himself in the hospital. In the tweet, Feldman claims a man opened his car door and stabbed him with an object.
