The folks who decide who’s in and who’s out on the walk say a certain kind of TV personality will never make the cut. For decades, CBS News Contributor Priya David Clemens reports, stars from the worlds of movies, music and TV have been immortalized with their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ana Martinez, a publicist associated with the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremonies, told CBS News, “The criteria for getting a star is longevity in the field of entertainment of five years or more, awards, Emmys, Oscars, Grammys, and philanthropic work that they do. And they have to be working actors, singers who have made an impact the entertainment community. However, sometimes the decision committee bends the rules. LOS ANGELES – After sparring for more than a year, Mel Gibson and his ex-girlfriend have reached a financial and custody settlement of a bitter dispute that spawned a criminal case and left the Academy Award-winner’s reputation damaged. Los Angeles Superior Court officials said in a statement late Friday that Gibson and Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva had reached an agreement after days of negotiation. Terms and conditions of the settlement were not announced, but a hearing Wednesday will be held to discuss the financial terms. The equally contentious issue of custody of the couple’s infant daughter will be handled in closed session, the court announced.
