The sailors onboard sent distress signals as the pirates boarded the Singapore-flagged ship, with their last message indicating they had locked themselves inside a panic room on the vessel, Aliyu said

(AP) LAGOS, Nigeria – Nigeria’s navy on Wednesday retook an oil tanker hijacked off the country’s largest city, freeing 23 Indian sailors held hostage by pirates who fled as the navy arrived, a spokesman said. None of the sailors was hurt in the hijacking of the MT Abu Dhabi Star, which happened off the coast of Lagos, said Pat Adamson, a spokesman for Dubai-based Pioneer Ship Management Services LLC. The Nigerian navy was providing an escort for the vessel Wednesday afternoon to make sure it arrived safely at Lagos’ busy port, Commodore Kabir Aliyu said. The pirates who took over the vessel fled when they saw the Nigerian naval ship on the horizon, Adamson said. It was unclear whether they stole any of the ship’s cargo, though the crew had begun an inspection of the ship, the spokesman said. The pirates targeted the ship as it was anchored off the coast Tuesday night, Aliyu said. The sailors onboard sent distress signals as the pirates boarded the Singapore-flagged ship, with their last message indicating they had locked themselves inside a panic room on the vessel, Aliyu said. During the short hijacking, the ship’s management received no ransom demands for the crew, Pioneer Ship Management Services said. That’s not unusual, as pirates in the region increasingly target oil tankers for their cargos, holding control of the vessels only long enough to...

military dumped some 20 million gallons of Agent Orange and other herbicides on about a quarter of former South Vietnam between 1962 and 1971, decimating about 5 million acres of forest — roughly the size of Massachusetts

(AP) HANOI, https://www.titaniumtube.top/ Vietnam — Alleged victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam are set to receive a controversial “detoxification” treatment developed by the Church of Scientology. Scientologists use the “Hubbard Method” — which involves saunas and vitamins — to try to cure drug addiction and alcoholism. The church set up a center in New York after the 9/11 attacks offering a similar service for first responders who may have been exposed to toxins. Many researchers have criticized the method as pseudoscientific and useless. A hospital official and state-controlled media said 24 people were at a Hanoi hospital on Thursday waiting for the program. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. The U.S. military dumped some 20 million gallons of Agent Orange and other herbicides on about a quarter of former South Vietnam between 1962 and 1971, decimating about 5 million acres of forest — roughly the size of Massachusetts. Dioxins in it have since been linked to birth defects, though the United States maintains there is no evidence of any link between Agent Orange and health problems among Vietnamese. “I hope my wife and I will fully recover completely and will not suffer after-effects to pass on to my descendants,” prospective patient Nguyen Xuan Anh was quoted as saying in the Viet Nam News daily. U.S. Embassy spokesperson Christopher...

After learning about media reports that they may have been fighting over money, Saad al Hilli’s brother Zaid came forward to British police Friday and denied any conflict in the family, French prosecutors said

(AP) LONDON – French and British police searched the U.K. home of a British-Iraqi couple slain while vacationing in the French Alps, as it emerged Saturday that all four people killed in the attack took two gunshots to the head. Meanwhile, relatives arrived in France to help care for the couple’s two surviving daughters, one of whom was badly wounded. Questions remained about a potential motive for the killings as well as the identity of one victim, an elderly woman found dead in the couple’s bullet-riddled BMW. Police have said they are probing reports of a financial dispute between the slain husband and his brother, but stress they are following all leads. The brother has denied any dispute. The identity of the dead couple – mechanical design engineer Saad al Hilli and his wife, Ikbal – was based partly on the testimony of their 4-year-old daughter Zeena, who survived unhurt by hiding under her mother’s skirt as some 25 automatic-handgun rounds were fired at the family car. Her older sister, 7-year-old Zaina, was badly wounded in the attack and is in a medically-induced coma. Aside from the elderly woman shot dead dead in the car, French cyclist Sylvain Mollier, 45, whom authorities suspect was in the wrong place at the wrong time, was also killed in Wednesday’s rampage. French prosecutor Eric Maillaud, based in Annecy near the site of...

We sincerely hope that we do not reach that point, but if you are not capable of resolving this matter of Mr Assange’s presence in your premises, this is an open option for us.” The Australian has been holed up in the embassy since June 19, taking refuge to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he faces questioning for alleged sexual misconduct

He said the threat was delivered to Ecuador’s Foreign Ministry and ambassador in London. The Press Association reports Patino released details of the letter it got from the British Foreign office. The letter stated: “You need to be aware that there is a legal base in the UK, the Diplomatic and Consular Premises Act 1987, that would allow us to take actions in order to arrest Mr Assange in the current premises of the Embassy. We sincerely hope that we do not reach that point, but if you are not capable of resolving this matter of Mr Assange’s presence in your premises, this is an open option for us.” The Australian has been holed up in the embassy since June 19, taking refuge to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he faces questioning for alleged sexual misconduct. Assange’s supports say the charges are trumped up and believe the U.S. has secretly indicted him and 태백출장샵 would extradite him from Sweden.
