To minimize the problem, a few leaders are on the lookout for ways to maintain themselves rooted in today’s . And also the resulting efforts by a few to attain perfection — at the office as well as in people’s own lives — is putting frontrunners in a better area to run their companies. When running research for the book, The Head of the Leader, Rasmus Hougaard and Jacqueline Carter interviewed a lot more than 1000 leaders also found that self-improvement, meaning a focus on the current, accomplished by meditation and other techniques, served people leaders engage with their own workers, and create better relations and improve company operation.”Mindfulness can be actually a trainable talent,” Hougaard told me by way of e mail. “neuro scientists have demonstrated that we can prepare our thoughts to become focused [by] going into the’psychological gym’ and controlling the way we use our interest .”Luckily, for those new to mindfulness, achieving this goal is not easy. Here would be just four steps:Inch. Divide routines.Multitasking. Backtoback meetings. Micro-managing. These are all customs leaders make because they believe that they increase productivity. However, these techniques really detach leaders from today’s day.”Thus many leaders these days are stuck in habitual styles of how they have worked previously or the way in which they have accepted ways of operating which make sure they are busy but perhaps not efficient,”...

(CBS/AP) With millions of e-reader devices being sold while the Borders chain is going out of business, books arriving this fall face a radically different market from just a year ago. But despite the popularity of e-books, the season’s biggest selling title may be available only the old-fashioned way. “The Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever,” the seventh of Jeff Kinney’s series about the trials of schoolboy Greg Heffley, arrives in November with an announced first printing of over 6 million copies and, so far, there are no plans for an e-book. The print run is greater than the combined totals for two other likely blockbusters: Rick Riordan’s “Heroes of Olympus” (3 million copies) and Christopher Paolini’s “Inheritance” (2.5 million), the fourth and final book of his “Inheritance” fantasy cycle. The “Wimpy Kid” series has more than 45 million copies in print and the new book has already reached the top 20 on Amazon.com. Independent sellers say customers have been pre-ordering “Cabin Fever” for months. “They’re like the ‘Harry Potter’ books in that they appeal to kids who don’t necessarily love reading,” says Peter Glassman, owner of Books of Wonder in New York. “And when you do that, you reach a tremendous audience.” The e-revolution so far has been more for the old than for the young. Officials at “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling’s American publisher, Scholastic Inc.,...

(AP) LAGOS, Nigeria – Nigeria’s navy on Wednesday retook an oil tanker hijacked off the country’s largest city, freeing 23 Indian sailors held hostage by pirates who fled as the navy arrived, a spokesman said. None of the sailors was hurt in the hijacking of the MT Abu Dhabi Star, which happened off the coast of Lagos, said Pat Adamson, a spokesman for Dubai-based Pioneer Ship Management Services LLC. The Nigerian navy was providing an escort for the vessel Wednesday afternoon to make sure it arrived safely at Lagos’ busy port, Commodore Kabir Aliyu said. The pirates who took over the vessel fled when they saw the Nigerian naval ship on the horizon, Adamson said. It was unclear whether they stole any of the ship’s cargo, though the crew had begun an inspection of the ship, the spokesman said. The pirates targeted the ship as it was anchored off the coast Tuesday night, Aliyu said. The sailors onboard sent distress signals as the pirates boarded the Singapore-flagged ship, with their last message indicating they had locked themselves inside a panic room on the vessel, Aliyu said. During the short hijacking, the ship’s management received no ransom demands for the crew, Pioneer Ship Management Services said. That’s not unusual, as pirates in the region increasingly target oil tankers for their cargos, holding control of the vessels only long enough to...
