Bailey was two months into his presidency in October when Weinstein’s membership was revoked

LOS ANGELES — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has concluded its review of a misconduct allegation against film academy president John Bailey and determined that no further action is required. The film academy said late Tuesday that Bailey will remain in his position, which he has held since August. Bailey, a cinematographer whose credits include “Groundhog Day,” ”The Big Chill” and “As Good as It Gets,” had previously denied the allegation that he attempted to touch a woman inappropriately on a movie set a decade ago. The film academy says the membership and administration committee and its sub-committee took his response, the claim and corroborating statements into account in its review. Outside counsel was also consulted, including from Ivy Kagan Bierman, an adviser to the Anita Hill-chaired Commission on Eliminating Sexual Harassment and Promoting Equality in the Workplace. More in Sexual misconduct The committee’s unanimous conclusion was also backed by the academy’s Board of Governors. Bailey’s attorney David Schindler did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment. The investigation comes as the academy has sought to make the fight against sexual misconduct a central goal after the wave of revelations beginning in October that brought down movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and spread throughout the industry. Bailey was two months into his presidency in October when Weinstein’s membership was revoked. Prior to Weinstein, only one other person...

(CBS/AP) The British hacking scandal has bled into another celebrity’s life as former Beatle Paul McCartney said he’d contact police over his ex-wife Heather Mills’ claim that her phone had been hacked. In comments to U.S. television journalists delivered via videolink from Cincinnati, Ohio,McCartney said that he would be in touch with law enforcement as soon as he was finished with his summer tour. “I will be talking to them about that,”‘ McCartney told the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles, just hours before a performance. I do think it is a horrendous violation of privacy, and I do think it’s been going on a long time, and I do think more people than we know knew about it. But I think I should just listen and hear what the facts are before I comment,” he said. McCartney is the latest celebrity to be dragged into Britain’s phone hacking scandal, which centers on allegations that journalists routinely eavesdropped on private phone messages, bribed police officers for tips and illegally obtained confidential information for stories. Until recently the scandal was largely been limited to the British arm of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire, but an allegation made Wednesday by McCartney’s former wife Heather Mills implicates the Trinity Mirror PLC group of newspapers, and CNN celebrity interviewer Piers Morgan, who once...

His real name is Marshall Mathers, but you probably know him as Eminem

This story was first published Oct. 10, 2010. It was updated on August 2, 2011. His real name is Marshall Mathers, but you probably know him as Eminem. He is the biggest selling artist of the past decade, earning 13 Grammies, one Oscar, and mountains of criticism for lyrics that are as profane as they are poetic. Whether you are a fan of rap or not, Eminem’s life story is an extraordinary tale of success, against all odds – a story he rarely talks about and one we first told you about last October. Back then, CNN’s Anderson Cooper met up with Eminem in his hometown Detroit in order to find out how a white kid who never made it past the ninth grade was able to propel himself to the top of a predominantly African American art form. 60 Minutes Overtime: Eminem & Anderson Cooper CNN’s Anderson Cooper shares all the unpredictable moments that happened on his “60 Minutes” shoot with Eminem. When Eminem stepped out of the shadows last summer in Detroit, in front of 40,000 people, it was a triumphant comeback for a super star who had all but disappeared.
