Jeff Glor hears from Kevin Wilson about “Family Fang,” his inventive novel about a quirky couple obsessed with performance art. For them, everything in life is secondary to art, including their children. Jeff Glor: What inspired you to write the book? Kevin Wilson: I knew I wanted to write about family, what it means to be born into something and how you eventually leave it behind to become your own person. But the biggest event that spurred me to write the book was the birth of my son, Griff. Once my wife and I became parents, I thought more and more about what the responsibility of caring for a baby meant and if our actions were helping or hurting our son. JG: What surprised you the most during the writing process? KW: How much I grew to care about the characters. I felt such an affinity for Annie and Buster, the children in the novel, that when I finished the book, I missed writing about them. I imagine it was the same feeling a parent has when a child leaves for college. They left me behind, but I still had more ideas for them. JG: 신안출장만남 What would you be doing if you weren’t a writer? KW: Most of my life, I’ve been a secretary, so I imagine I’d keep doing that. I am very good at taking orders...

More than 10 tons of mail had been held in Jordan since 2010 because Israel — which controls the West Bank’s borders — wouldn’t allow its transfer

For the first time in eight years, Palestinians are receiving international mail. Letters, packages, presents and 검증 토토 even a wheelchair have arrived in the West Bank after Israel released 10 tons of undelivered mail to the Palestinian territory. A dusty mailroom in Jericho buzzed back to life as thousands of mail sacs from around the world were sifted through and sorted, reports CBS News’ Jonathan Vigliotti. They were then loaded onto scooters and ferried through the winding streets of Ramallah to their final destinations. Recipients like father Khaled Al-Adaman looked like they’d just received a message in a bottle. He thought the now-old back-to-school backpack for his daughter was long lost. In a way, it’s survived stormy seas. More than 10 tons of mail had been held in Jordan since 2010 because Israel — which controls the West Bank’s borders — wouldn’t allow its transfer. Postman Ramadam Ghazawy now acts as an investigator, piecing together addresses faded by time. “Some of them were damaged. Some of them have no identifiers or addresses,” he said. “It takes for me and my colleagues maybe two weeks. I hope [in] two weeks we will finish it all.” Israel calls the mail transfer a one-time gesture as it works to implement a 2016 agreement that would allow a direct delivery between the West Bank and Jordan. For now, extra mail carriers have...

(Bacior’s hometown) Sept

(CBS) A guitar. A voice. Sometimes that’s all a musician needs to lift the listener to a higher place. Smart lyrics help, too, and Robin Bacior has them. On “Headless Sheep,” she sings about two subjects – a relationship and an unpleasant flight – using direct, uncomplicated imagery. The result is a song that makes listeners feel as if they’re floating through the clouds (but having a much better go of it than Bacior’s protagonist). (Scroll down to listen to “Headless Sheep”) Bacior’s voice is the focus here. She’s upfront in the mix, singing with a sweet tone and using layers of harmonies that belie a tough spirit in the lyrics. The few other songs on Bacior’s site fall loosely under the banner of folk or alt-country, but these are definitely pop songs, just with folk-ish instrumentation, including what sounds like upright piano and slide dobro. The 24-year-old has a full-length, “Rest Our Wings,” coming out Nov. 1 on Consonants & Vowels. She has a couple live dates scheduled on the east coast in August before embarking on a west coast tour in September. Read more about Bacior here. Hat tip to @zeitgeisler.
