(AP) NEW YORK – Two dozen people on four continents have been arrested in an elaborate sting targeting a black market for online financial fraud, federal officials in New York said Tuesday. U.S. officials called the crackdown in United States, Europe, Asia and Australia the largest enforcement effort ever against hackers who steal credit card, bank and other information on the Internet – a practice known as “carding.” The officials claimed the two-year FBI sting protected more than 400,000 potential victims and prevented losses of around $205 million. The arrests “cause significant disruption to the underground economy and are a stark reminder that masked IP addresses and private forums are no sanctuary for criminals and are not beyond the reach of the FBI,” Janice Fedarcyk, head of the FBI’s New York office, said in a statement. According to a criminal complaint unsealed on Tuesday in federal court in Manhattan, the suspects bought and sold hacking programs and stolen information via secure websites. In June 2010, undercover investigators set up their own website “as an online meeting place where the FBI could locate cybercriminals, investigate and identify them and disrupt their activities.” The complaint charges one alleged hacker using the name “OxideDox” with fraud. Undercover agents bought stolen data related to 15 American Express, MasterCard and Discover accounts from the defendant, the complaint said. In one instance, an undercover investigator...

I know it’s very unfortunate what’s happened, but it’s a very big miracle that it wasn’t so much more devastating.” He said his workers took the work stoppage hard, saying they didn’t have the authority or equipment to continue and had to wait until Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty asked for an alternative

(AP) ELLIOT LAKE, Ontario – Officials recovered two bodies after dismantling a partially collapsed Ontario mall on Wednesday and said they don’t believe other victims are inside. The renewed rescue effort came after angry residents shouted down fears that the unstable structure made the work too risky to continue. Bill Neadles, a spokesman for the Toronto-based Heavy Urban Search and Rescue team, said the second victim was being removed. Rescuers had not detected signs of life after hearing breathing inside the rubble early Monday, nearly two days after Saturday’s collapse. Authorities called off work Monday afternoon amid fears of another collapse, but dozens of residents protested in front of city hall, saying that abandoning trapped comrades would be unthinkable in the culture of their former mining community. Neadles called it a miracle that only two people died when the roof collapsed onto an area near the food court and directly over a lottery kiosk. “I had the opportunity to review the security film, and it is a miracle. There were 26 people in the food court,” he said. “There were people that had just left the...

Pictures: Charlie Sheen The new season’s first episode won’t be filmed until around Aug

(CBS) Now that Ashton Kutcher is heading to “Two and a Half Men,” series creator Chuck Lorre reportedly wants to make sure Charlie Sheen (and his character, 원주출장업소 Charlie Harper) can never return to the show again. TMZ reports, citing sources connected to the CBS sitcom, that Harper will be killed off. Pictures: Charlie Sheen The new season’s first episode won’t be filmed until around Aug. 5, according to the website, but producers are already imagining scenarios for the character’s death. One of them reportedly includes Harper driving his car over a cliff – which would be fitting, since two of Sheen’s cars went down a cliff last year. And while it looks like Sheen won’t be returning to “Men” (except, perhaps, via the afterlife), TBS is also denying reports that the actor is heading to the network. RadarOnline.com reported that Sheen has signed a sitcom deal with Lionsgate Television that would have him playing a character similar to his “Two and a Half Men” persona. “Networks and cable are bidding on the show right now, with TBS being the front runner,” an insider said, according to the website. But the network denies the talks are happening. “TBS is not in discussions for a possible project with Charlie Sheen,” a spokesperson said in a...
