says that too many are still being caught up in violence

(AP) KABUL, Afghanistan – A bomb in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday killed six NATO service members, on a day where a total of 29 people died from roadside bombs and insurgent attacks. NATO said the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device but provided no further details about the attack and did not identify the dead service members. The statement said NATO’s policy is to allow “national authorities” to give details about the soldiers. A surge in Afghan and coalition forces during the past two years routed Taliban fighters from many of their strongholds in the south, but the insurgents have stepped up their attacks this summer to take back key areas. The service members’ deaths were the latest on Sunday caused by bombs planted by insurgents along roadsides, paths or mountain tracks. More in Afghanistan: The way forward In addition to the six NATO deaths, bombs and attacks killed 16 Afghan civilians, five policemen and two members of the U.S.-led coalition in southern Afghanistan, Afghan and NATO authorities said. The civilians, including women and children, were killed in three blasts in Arghistan district, along Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan. Kandahar province spokesman Ahmad Jawed Faisal said one bomb exploded when a minivan ran over it Sunday morning. A second went off when other civilians riding a tractor arrived to help the wounded. A third explosion occurred about two...

Dadis, now a 33-year-old doctoral candidate in clinical neuroscience, said that in 2002 she had recently moved to the U.S

LOS ANGELES — A woman on Monday said she was a 17-year-old model and aspiring actress when Steven Seagal sexually assaulted her at a supposed casting session at a Beverly Hills hotel room in 2002. She is one of a growing number of women to accuse the action star of sexual misconduct during an audition; Portia de Rossi and Jenny McCarthy have told similar stories.  Faviola Dadis was emotional but composed as she spoke at a news conference in Los Angeles. She said Seagal reached under her bikini top, grabbed her nipples and then grabbed her genitals soon after the audition began. She said she promptly ended the audition and left deeply shaken. “I have suffered from depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress, have found it difficult to form trusting relationships with men,” Dadis said through tears as she read from a written statement. She recently filed a report with police, and Los Angeles prosecutors said Monday that her case is under review. More in Sexual misconduct Dadis spoke at the news conference alongside her attorney, Lisa Bloom, and another woman, Regina Simons, who said Seagal sexually assaulted her in 1995 when she was 18, allegations she previously made on NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today” in January. Seagal’s attorney Anthony Falangetti said the actor adamantly denies the allegations. “These claims by the two women who spoke today are completely fictitious and...

Reus made it 4-1 in the 74th, volleying a shot in off the underside of the crossbar after Sifakis had saved from Klose

(AP) GDANSK, Poland – A trio of second-half goals put Germany into the European Championship semifinals for a record seventh time Friday after a 4-2 win over Greece. Philipp Lahm gave Germany the lead in the 39th minute before Georgios Samaras equalized for Greece in the 55th. But Sami Khedira, Miroslav Klose and Marco Reus all scored to pull Germany clear. “We made some silly mistakes but at the end we scored four goals,” Lahm said. “We had many chances in the first 10-15 minutes.” German Chancellor Angela Merkel made the trip for the match and stood to cheer every time her team scored. The match was played amid the political backdrop between the countries. Germany has been a major contributor to economic bailouts for Greece and was instrumental in demanding unpopular spending cuts. Germany dominated nearly the entire match at the Arena Gdansk, but the Greek defense held strong for much of the first half. Lahm finally put his team in front by controlling the ball with his chest and dribbling toward the middle before sending a long-distance shot into the corner off the hand of Greece goalkeeper Michalis Sifakis. The Greeks looked better at the start of the second half, and even equalized when Samaras knocked the ball past Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer after a perfect cross from Dimitris Salpigidis. “When we conceded a second goal we...
