The Duke and Duchess of Camrbidge began their tour on Thursday, laying a wreath at Canada’s National War Memorial as excited onlookers screamed with delight and showered the young royals with flowers and gifts. Later, they attended a reception for young Canadians. It was billed as a celebration barbecue but it was brought inside due to rain. The duke and duchess changed into more casual clothing for the event. William wore an open-necked blue shirt and khakis, while Kate wore a black and white dress wrap dress by Issa decorated with a pattern of birds – the same dress she wore upon arriving to London’s Goring Hotel the night on the eve of her wedding day – paired with wedge sandals. Their nine-day tour will end on July 8, after which the couple will travel on to the United States for a brief stay in the Los Angeles area.

Erika Wollam Nichols runs The Bluebird

From garages to basements to a hole-in-the wall neighborhood bar, every musician started somewhere — played his or her songs for people in the hopes that maybe the right person could be listening and a career could be born. “Early Show” Contributor Ayla Brown has the story of one place where that is more likely to happen than just about any other. It’s called The Bluebird Cafe, and what makes this place so special is the people who sit in the audience, and the rich history of some pretty big singer/songwriters who have been discovered on its stage. They don’t call it music city for nothing. Nashville, Tennessee is the epicenter of country — one of the most popular forms of American music there is. For all the honky tonks and music bars that line the streets of downtown Nashville, there is one place that stands alone. “If you are a songwriter or a performing songwriter, you absolutely must come to The Bluebird. If you haven’t played the Bluebird, you really haven’t established yourself in town,” said music publisher Jennifer Johnson. The Bluebird Cafe — an unassuming little venue in a strip mall on the outskirts of town — is the place to play. Not because the stage is so great, Brown said, adding, “It’s not, it’s kind of small and cramped. And it’s not the acoustics. No, the...

Suha Arafat said the belongings were put in a secure room at her attorney’s office in Paris after Arafat’s death and stayed there until Al-Jazeera approached the lab on her behalf at the beginning of this year, he added

(AP) RAMALLAH, West Bank – Yasser Arafat’s body may be exhumed to allow for more testing of the causes of his death, the Palestinian president said Wednesday, after a Swiss lab said it found elevated levels of a radioactive isotope in belongings the Palestinian leader is said to have used in his final days. Arafat’s widow, Suha, called for an autopsy in the wake of the lab’s findings, first reported by the Arab satellite TV station Al-Jazeera. In an interview with the station, she did not explain why she waited nearly eight years to have the belongings, including a toothbrush and a fur hat, tested. At the time of his death, she refused to agree to an autopsy. The Palestinian leader died at a military hospital outside Paris in November 2004 of what French doctors called a massive brain hemorrhage — weeks after he fell violently ill at his West Bank compound. Doctors, including independent experts who reviewed his medical records on behalf of The Associated Press, have been unable to pinpoint the underlying cause of the hemorrhage. Speculation has lingered in the Arab world that he was killed by Israel, which viewed him as an obstacle to a peace treaty. Israeli officials have vociferously denied any foul play. Francois Bochud, who heads the Institute of Radiation Physics in Lausanne, Switzerland, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that his...
