Joey Barton isn’t the kind of guy to hold back is opinions and whether you like them or not it’s hard not to be impressed with that in a world where footballers are usually so media trained they take ages to say fuck all! The latest thing to rile the midfielder is Pep Guardiola’s treatment of goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The England number one, who didn’t exactly have a great time with the national team this summer, has found himself on the bench for City’s opening two games of the season under Guardiola with Willy Caballero taking the Magliette Bayer Leverkusen gloves against Sunderland and Steaua Bucharest.

Hart’s time at the Etihad, which started whilst Barton was still at the club, seems to be over with Barcelona’s Claudio Bravo rumoured to be on the verge of a move to the blue side of Manchester. And Hart’s controversial former teammate isn’t happy with how the new manager has treated the ‘keeper,’ telling talkSPORT:

“It is disgusting. It is not the club I left. The club I left and watch now are two totally different organisations.

“The club I played for wouldn’t have treated a player that had been a servant for as long as Joe has in the manner that it has.

“It is common human decency, regardless of how good a coach you are. Why treat him like that?

“He is a full international, somebody who, probably before City took the money, could have gone on to bigger and better things himself but stayed and wanted to be at City.

“I don’t see what he has done wrong to be treated the way he has. His attitude isn’t terrible. I don’t like this.”

It looks from the outside like the former Bayern Munich boss doesn’t rate the former Maglia Del liverpool Shrewsbury goalie’s ability to play the ball out from the back, something Guardiola prefers his players to be able to do, but Barton questioned if Cabellero was the man to do it:

“I’ve watched Caballero and are you telling me Caballero is better with his feet than Joe Hart? I haven’t seen it.

“Why not let him fight for his place and then if he is not good enough say: ‘I have given him an opportunity’. That’s what every manager should do, give everyone an opportunity.”

Who is the best keeper out of Bravo, Hart and Caballero?
