(CBS/AP) Anyone who was afraid they wouldn’t get a full dose of puppet nudity need not worry. Broadway plans to be open Monday night. Tropical Storm Irene had forced theaters to scrap a potentially lucrative late-summer weekend. “As of now, Broadway performances will play on Monday as scheduled, unless government authorities request otherwise,” said Elisa Shevitz, of the trade group The Broadway League. When the threat of Irene prompted city officials to shutter the public transportation system, theater producers threw in the towel for matinee and evening performances on Saturday and Sunday. Depending on the show, theaters lost revenue for up to four performances. It was the first time Broadway has shut down for an emergency since a city-wide blackout in 2003. It came as the city is flush with tourists and 현금바둑이 with schools mostly still out. The two dozen shows performed last week grossed just over $20 million and attracted some 217,000 theatergoers. While most Broadway shows traditionally run on a Tuesday-to-Sunday schedule, lately a number of shows have played Monday night, including “Chicago,” “Hair,” “Mamma Mia!,” “Rock of Ages,” “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.” Though both of Disney’s popular shows on Broadway “Mary Poppins” and “The Lion King” were previously scheduled to be off on Monday, they plan to be ready on Tuesday. “The decision to suspend this weekend’s performances...

(AP) NEW YORK – McDonald’s Corp., the fast food chain that brought the hamburger to the world, is opening what may be its first vegetarian-only restaurants. The world’s biggest hamburger chain said Tuesday that the locations in India will serve only vegetarian food because of customer preferences in the region. The company could not immediately say when the restaurants would open or how many there would be. A 2006 poll found that about 40 percent of Indians do not eat meat, and McDonald’s is eager to tap that 500-million-strong market. Already, McDonald’s said its restaurants in India do not sell beef or pork, and that the kitchens are separated into sections for cooking vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. They have menu items that cater to local tastes, such as the Maharaja Mac, which is a Big Mac made with chicken patties instead of beef. It also offers a McAloo Tikki, a burger made with a spicy breaded potato patty, red onions, tomatoes and a “special vegetable sauce.” The chain offers such localized options in countries around the world. The opening of the vegetarian-only restaurants “further speaks to McDonald’s efforts to cater to local tastes,” the Oak Brook, Ill.-based company said. Without providing details, it said the restaurants will be in areas that are popular pilgrimage destinations. McDonald’s said the new restaurants are the only ones it’s aware of that will...

(AP) BEIJING – A series of earthquakes collapsed houses and triggered landslides Friday in a remote mountainous part of southwestern China where damage was preventing rescues and communications were disrupted. At least 64 deaths have been reported. The quakes started with a 5.6-magnitude shock before 11:30 a.m. along the borders of Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, and another equally big quake struck shortly after noon followed by more than 60 aftershocks, Chinese and U.S. government seismologists said. Though of moderate strength, the quakes were shallow, which often causes more damage. Hardest hit was Yiliang County, where all but one of the deaths occurred, according to the Yunnan provincial government’s official website. Another 715 people in the county were injured, the sites said. Yiliang county’s high population density, weak building construction, and propensity for landslides were blamed for the relatively high death toll. China Central Television showed roads littered with rocks and boulders, and pillars of dust rising over hillcrests — signs of landslides. Footage showed a couple hundred people crowding into what looked like a school athletic field in Yiliang’s county seat, a sizeable city spread along a river in a valley bottom. With some roads impassable, rescuers had yet to reach some outlying villages and towns, the official Xinhua News Agency said. Though quakes in the area occur frequently, 토토 후기 buildings in rural areas and China’s fast-growing smaller...
