At least 10 civilians were injured in the three blasts

(AP) KABUL, Afghanistan – A bomb in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday killed six NATO service members, on a day where a total of 29 people died from roadside bombs and insurgent attacks. NATO said the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device but provided no further details about the attack and did not identify the dead service members. The statement said NATO’s policy is to allow “national authorities” to give details about the soldiers. A surge in Afghan and coalition forces during the past two years routed Taliban fighters from many of their strongholds in the south, but the insurgents have stepped up their attacks this summer to take back key areas. The service members’ deaths were the latest on Sunday caused by bombs planted by insurgents along roadsides, paths or mountain tracks. More in Afghanistan: The way forward In addition to the six NATO deaths, bombs and attacks killed 16 Afghan civilians, five policemen and two members of the U.S.-led coalition in southern Afghanistan, Afghan and NATO authorities said. The civilians, including women and children, were killed in three blasts in Arghistan district, along Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan. Kandahar province spokesman Ahmad Jawed Faisal said one bomb exploded when a minivan ran over it Sunday morning. A second went off when other civilians riding a tractor arrived to help the wounded. A third explosion occurred about two...

Among the new choreographers were Justine Giles, Ray Leeper, and Chucky Klapow

(CBS) The final 14 dancers showed their stuff to choreography by a new (new to SYTYCD, that is) group of artists on Wednesday night’s episode of the Fox summer hit “So You Think You Can Dance.” Pictures: “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 8 But all eyes may have been on the judges panel which included, of all people, Carmen Electra in a sheer, 온라인 슬롯 low-cut ensemble. I could see Debbie Reynolds last week; at least she was a tap dancer in her day. But Carmen Electra? What can she tell contestants about their dancing? It turns out, not much, despite the long list of dance credentials she spouted at the start of the show. Her comments were filled with mindless generalities and sometimes she just repeated the comments of the other judges. Those other judges included former contestant and now acclaimed choreographer Travis Wall, whose comments were pointed and who almost always had helpful tips for the dancers. (And he also was wearing a very dapper purple velvet jacket.) Mary Murphy and show creator and producer Nigel Lythgoe completed the panel. Among the new choreographers were Justine Giles, Ray Leeper, and Chucky Klapow. While the dancing by the pairs showed various degrees of proficiency, it was the group works that stole the show. Wednesday’s episode started with a Justin Giles piece for the men about the...

Tormé puts his spin on the big-band jazz of Alan Jay Lerner’s “Come Back to Me” and the Cole Porter penned title track. He also takes on the pop standards “Autumn Leaves” and “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?” He gets even more soulful by taking on the smooth sounds of Al Green’s classic “Let’s Stay Together” while also creating his own signature songs. And of course, he brings it home to one of his father’s biggest hits, “Comin’ Home Baby.” Growing up with Mel Tormé for a dad was quite an exciting ride. Tormé was exposed to some of the greatest music in American history because of this father. He had the honor of being around some of the biggest legends in jazz – from Bing Crosby, Duke Ellington, Sammy Davis Jr., Buddy Rich to Ella Fitzgerald. “My dad was a hero to me, and his lifelong love affair with music inspired my own,” Tormé says his official bio. “He was impressing musical tastes and ideas on me from very early on (in my life) and I am endlessly grateful for that.”
