(CBS News) ULAN BATAAR, Mongolia – Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised Mongolia as a model of democracy during a fleeting visit Monday to the mineral-rich, former socialist nation situated between China and Russia. The country is the only post-socialist democracy in Asia. The secretary also criticized China’s model of economic growth without political liberalization. Without calling out China by name, Clinton used the platform of an International Women’s Forum to speak about the need for Asian countries to expand human rights. “You can’t have economic liberalization without political liberalization,” said Clinton. “Countries that want to be open for business but closed to free expression will find that this approach comes at a cost.” Secretary Clinton called Mongolia – which sits on $1.3 trillion in mineral wealth – “an inspiration” for increasing the number of women in political power while also boasting the most rapid economic growth anywhere in the world. Referencing a controversial speech that she delivered as first lady, the now-secretary reminded attendees that “women’s rights are human rights.” The secretary linked political openness and prosperity throughout her visit to Mongolia’s capital city of Ulan Bataar, and we can expect the theme to continue during her ongoing tour of Asia. In the coming days, Clinton will make stops in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. America’s top diplomat will act as a trade booster throughout her travels in Asia. The secretary’s message: America’s economic engagement in Asia is just as vital as its security interests. “Much of the history of the 21st century will be written in Asia,” said Clinton. “It may turn out to be a century in which economies grow, conflicts are avoided and security is strengthened.” Secretary Clinton has crafted the Obama administration’s “pivot toward Asia” strategy. The idea is to counter China’s influence through increased trade in the region – rather than just increased militarization.

Pictures: Eva Longoria Located within the CityCenter complex on the Las Vegas Strip, Longoria’s Eve Club closed Monday to save money. The club is attached to Longoria’s Beso Steakhouse restaurant. Beso LLC bankruptcy attorney Lenard Schwartzer said Wednesday that the restaurant will remain open because it is profitable. He says the nightclub could eventually be renovated and reopened. Beso LLC filed in January for bankruptcy to remain operating while reorganizing nearly $5.7 million in debt. The federal Chapter 11 filing claimed the nightspot was losing more than $76,000 per month. Longoria owns nearly one-third of the business but is also listed as an unsecured creditor. Beso Steakhouse and Eve Club opened in December 2009 and is Longoria’s second restaurant. On Friday a news crew covering Thursday’s landslide witnessed and recorded another landslide in the same area

(CBS/AP) JOHNSONS LANDING, British Columbia – Police say emergency crews have found the body of one of four people missing after a massive landslide crushed several homes in a tiny western Canada town. British Columbia’s chief coroner Lisa Lapointe said Sunday that an adult male body was recovered near a home swept away by the landslide in the small hamlet of Johnsons Landing in B.C. She says crews will try to recover the three remaining bodies. At least three homes were crushed after a wall of rock, mud and trees cascaded down the side of a mountain earlier this week. Two sisters, aged 17 and 속초콜걸 22, and their father have been missing since the slide struck last Thursday. A female German tourist was also believed to have been caught in the debris. Lynn Migdal said Friday she hopes her two daughters and ex-husband are still alive after their home in British Columbia was engulfed by debris. Midgal, speaking from Florida, said one of her daughters spoke to a friend just before the landslide hit and said they were in the home.
