Manchester United are tracking Leicester and Tottenham defenders Maguire and Alderweireld as they aim for a successful conclusion to the summer transfer window.
So far, the Red Devils have been thwarted in their efforts to land both players with Jose Mourinho cutting an increasingly sulky figure.

Leicester, meanwhile, are reluctant to lose Maguire after already seeing Riyad Mahrez join Manchester City.
And The Sun say Alderweireld may now be an easier signing than Maguire.
The Belgium international has, when quizzed, been coy on his chances of leaving the north London giants.
However, Alderweireld wants to quit Tottenham after falling behind Colombian powerhouse Davinson Sanchez in the pecking order last season.
Over at Leicester, though, and Maguire will not agitate for an exit.
Tottenham, however, face keeping an unhappy player in Alderweireld if they continue to deny United a deal for the Maglia Tottenham 29-year-old.
And The Sun say the fact Leicester have no real obligation to sell Maguire makes the Tottenham star an easier target.
Meanwhile, former Premier League star Brian McBride has urged United to sign Alderweireld instead of Maguire.
‘I would say Alderweireld also,” McBride said.
“They need somebody to be able to pass out of the back.”
