When fighting in state ran events, you are obligated stand for your guys, but chances are if you fight more frequently, you will soon start to establish bonds with fighters that roll at other schools. These relationships should be solid for various reasons. There are a handful of fighters in my school that are experts in occupations that I need industry specific help in. For instance, 1 BJJ practitioner owns a Dental office, another is a cop, and one dude is an internet marketer. I have used the services offered by the oral surgeon for my daughter’s orthodontics. People at the class visit the Doctor all the time, those are bi-benefical friendships. Training and talking to practitioners and competitors gives you a legit intro to competitors you may have not even spoked with. It’s good for your BJJ career, and it’s great for the local vibe.
