New R&B Rivalry?

2Reminiscent of his very public battle with rapper Jay-Z in 2004, R. Kelly, the self proclaimed “King of R&B” now appears to be feuding with hot singer/songwriter of the moment. Ne-Yo. Ne-Yo was abruptly removed from the bill of Kelly’s “Double Up” tour, according to TMZ.com

The Web site says Kelly says Ne-Yo was dumped because contractual agreements were not met. But in an interview with BET.com, Ne-Yo says that’s false.

“I believe it was because the first few reviews of the show, people were talking more about my set than his, and I don’t think he liked that too much,” Ne-Yo said.

But according to Billboard.com, Kelly’s spokesperson said there was no bad blood.

“Ne-Yo is a terrific talent, and R. Kelly is certainly confident enough in his own abilities to be happy to share the stage with enormously talented people,” the rep said. “The more talented, the better. We’re sorry it had to end this way.”

Seven of the surviving actors who played the inhabitants of Munchkinland in the 1939 classic attended the ceremony, arriving in a horse-drawn carriage and trailed by a marching band.

A yellow carpet, resembling the film’s yellow brick road, led them to the stage. One tap-danced, and another sang.

“We love you; you have touched our hearts,” former Munchkin Mickey Carroll, 88, told the crowd.

Carroll was joined by former Munchkin colleagues Ruth Duccini, Jerry Maren, Margaret Pellegrini, Karl Slover, Clarence Swensen and Meinhardt Raabe.

Carroll was one of more than a hundred adults and children who were recruited for “Oz” to play the natives of what author L. Frank Baum called Munchkin Country in his 1900 book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

They only made $125 a week while filming, followed by decades of recognition, Carroll told The Associated Press by phone before the ceremony.

“I’m not a Munchkin, I’m an entertainer,” Carroll noted. “But the movie is great because we all grew up with it. … It never dies.”

Jennie Garth Off “Dancing with the Stars”5She may have been the most popular girl at West Beverly Hills High School, but Jennie Garth couldn’t muster enough votes to reach the final of “Dancing with the Stars.”

Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on “Beverly Hills, 90210” from 1990 to 2000, was eliminated from ABC’s No. 1-rated show Tuesday night. A breakthrough performance the night before, which earned her and professional partner Derek Hough their first perfect judges score of 30, wasn’t enough.

Dancing in next week’s final will be two-time Indy 500 champion Helio Castroneves, Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown, and singer/performer Marie Osmond.

In other “Dancing with the Stars” news, Doctors have cleared Wayne Newton to go on the road with the show’s tour.

A recurring heart infection recently sidelined the 65-year-old singer. Harrah’s Entertainment says the condition forced Newton to cancel his two-month holiday engagement at Harrah’s Las Vegas.

But “Dancing With the Stars” says Newton’s physicians are allowing him to participate in the 38-city U.S. tour that begins December 18th and runs through February. Newton was eliminated from the dance competition last month.
