Choosing a web host isn’t hard, though sifting through the good and not-so-good options can be a head-twisting experience – especially if you’re taking the plunge and building a web site or blog for the first time.

In order to evaluate your web design skills accurately, it’s a good idea to start off with small, simple websites where your successes and shortcomings will be easy to spot. As a starting point, try to design two or three basic pages that only contain text, and then work your way upwards from there.

Cons: Trading dollars for hours and anyone who works with customers or clients knows that in this scenario, you are no longer living by your own rules or by your own schedule. With this model, there is a glass ceiling because you have a finite amount of hours of which to monetize.

Before you try and monetize a platform, the first thing that you must have is an e-mail subscriber base. Some people can generate six figures with only a few hundred subscribers and, other times, people struggle making money with many thousands of e-mail subscribers. The size of your e-mail subscriber base is not what is important, but rather having a realistic strategy is what is important. Monetizing your content and gaining freedom in your life requires a web hosting provider that offers serious online tools for your website or blog.

As I’ve said, putting the words to paper takes time. Placing those pages into your site takes time. Research to ensure that you are targeting your page content to the words that people are searching for about your topic takes time. And if you are saddled with a “dial-up” internet connection as I am, waiting for data transmission sure takes time! 🙂

When you go out to market and promote something, it is going to be just as hard to market and promote something that costs $4 as it will be to market and promote something that costs $49. When you are packaging up your product, think about all the time and effort that you are saving your customers. Your product is valuable, so do not sell yourself short. You do not need to start with lower-end products and then move to a premium. You can come out of the gate with something strong. Take pride in your business and take pride in offering results to your clients.

And in that very short time, we’ve gone from nothing to 2 and 1/2 billion users and over 600 million Web pages. And both of those statistics is changing, going up all the time. We’ve built the largest information infrastructure in human history in just that short space of time. In this lecture, what I’d like to consider is two questions about that. The first one is, how on Earth did we get from there to here?

Overcome the “Similar Complex”

Overcoming the “who are you” projection will increase the likelihood that you will be successful. Is your website professional looking or does it appear as a template that you just threw up online without customizing? Random templates are not helpful in making your brand stand out. Having a brand that looks good and portrays the impression that you are serious is crucial.

The web grows exponentially, expanding from business novelty to business necessity in just a few years. From the spare-room entrepreneur to multi-national conglomerates, a web presence is almost a requirement.

Your website needs to look professional so that your visitors will realize that you are serious about your brand. Does your website look like something that people will want to buy from? Is your website professionally designed? Is your website hosted by a reliable web hosting firm? Does your website stand out among the myriad of websites online today?

There is always web site consulting as another web site revenue source. From my web wanderings it would seem that there’s almost one consultant for every web site on the internet! Far too much competition for me, though the good consultants can profit, the bad ones will not. Like those that sell hard goods, a consultancy needs to be well positioned to survive. I do not have the skills to be an effective consultant to people seeking web expertise, so I don’t even try.

Everything from the company logo to the site text language defines the company brand. Which would you choose? The wild techno-geek or the clean design and quality information provided by a host with a different take on its own corporate culture.

Folks visit my site because I write high content value pages about my subject. They find my site by using search words relating to that subject because they are interested in getting information about those words. I write pages about the search words people use, because my software tells me which words that they are using to find information on my subject. No tricks, it’s a simple as that. If you write pages about things that people are looking for, they will find your pages.

You may pay $3, $4 or $5 for the most popular keywords. The highest bidder gets the best position in the skyscrapers that appear on the right hand side of each Google search engine result page (SERP). Take your time, here. Sure, you can start for as little as $5.00 but you can quickly find yourself spending hundreds of dollars on AdWords and not seeing the results you expected.I believe that the internet will continue to grow and that every person in the world that logs on for the first time increases the potential for anyone else that wishes to generate an income from the web to be able to do so.

So, even as your programmer in Bangalore or Bangor is creating the HTML code to create your site, there’s still plenty you can do to ensure a successful launch and, in a couple of months, a growing web business.

You need to have a platform and an audience in order to build revenue. Because, after all, we all want to have quality, meaningful products that help people, while at the same time making money. It’s not asking too much, is it?

Even if you haven’t hired a programmer yet, it’s time to get to work. Success on the world wide web is not a given and the more preparation you do before the hard launch, the more likely you are to see successful results.

The web site identifies the hosts “brand” – its corporate culture. Some use funny logos and radical type fonts, targeting a “younger” demographic. Other hosts have a more professional appearance and take the time to explain its corporate values, i.e. commitment to client satisfaction, tech support, fair prices and good value. If you’re serious about your web site, go with a host that is serious about hosting.

The text should be simple to read or scan. Use bullet points and avoid using jargon or industry-specific words that might be unfamiliar to some visitors. If the site visitor doesn’t get it, he isn’t going to buy from you. Write text in simple, short sentences at an 8th grade reading level to ensure that visitors understand what your site is about and why it’s worth exploring further.

Add a Sitemap to Help Google Index your Content

The search engine fairy does not just come down and “ordain” you and grant you traffic. It doesn’t work that way. Instead, with careful planning and a lot of hard work, you can build an audience, a brand, and a community which you can then monetize. Add a site map to help Google index your relevant pages, videos and images. There are many WordPress sitemap plug-ins which will help you to build an XML site map, which is the file type that Google Webmaster Tools prefers.

Implement a search tool on your site pages that allows people to search the entire site. If you do this, visitors will perceive that your site is more user-friendly; it becomes instantly easier to locate the targeted information. Site searches are easy to implement; the result will be worth the effort.

Whoa, good question right off the bat. You can’t ask questions of a web host if there’s no contact information, no help desk, no tech support. Some hosts manage client care via email and when your web site has disappeared and you’re wondering about that 404 error message appearing on your computer screen, an e-mail response 28 hours after you e-mailed the host means you’re effectively invisible for 28 hours.

The struggling point, however, is lacking a real strategy to generate revenue. So, build the platform and once you have done this, you can do anything. Most people that market products pay people who have the platform to introduce their products. So, if you already have the platform, then you can accomplish a lot because building the platform is the hard part. Think about the people who are individuals with their own brand. Those are the people that can really rise to the top of financial freedom.

And that has been a really important decision, I would say almost as important as the technologies themselves, in shaping how we got from there to here. So that’s the first reason. The second reason why we can’t just say that this was inevitable outcome of the technology that was developed is because the Web we have now, even in technical terms, is not the Web we had in 1989.

Green hosting for your website. Green hosting isn’t some passing fad or some 60s hippie thing. It’s the future of hosting. It has to be. So, look for a host that employs wind power to generate the juice to run the servers to host the web site – yours.

So we’ve gone from physicists sharing data to eBay, Twitter, through all of those mechanisms I’ve just described. And the Web, what it is and what it’s become, is really, really complicated. And that’s why we need Web science to help us to understand it.

There are close to 130 million web sites on line at the moment and every day, 6,000 new web sites launch, creating entrepreneurs by the thousands. The world wide web is a great way to take control of your professional life (you’re the boss) or to add a few bucks to your household income each month while you keep your day job.

Even well-optimized, well-designed and -built web sites take time to get a little recognition from search engines like Google, Bing, Ask, Yahoo and the other 4K search engines crawling the web at any one time. But there are some things you can and should do before launch date to improve your chances for web-based business success. Here are a few tips that’ll tip the scales of success in your favor. You may ask… why me? Am I ready? I am waiting for the perfect time, the perfect moment, and the ideal situation. That does not exist. It is a myth. But, by having a brand in place, having an audience in place, and a reliable and consistent schedule for adding content, you are as close to the perfect time as you are going to get to monetize your content.

Use ALT tags whenever possible. These helpful tags describe an image to a viewer, assisting the visually impaired, as well as those who prefer to browse without images. As an added bonus, some search engines include these tags in their rankings, so you may get a boost by using them.

The ads are positioned for me courtesy of Google. Google provided me software that can “read” my site, and position “content” ads on the pages, ads that relate to the general content of that particular page and to my site in general.

Select the videos that you want to monetize. Once you have selected those videos, click “monetize” in YouTube. YouTube will place ads on your videos, and depending on how many visitors you have, you make money from that video channel. You will get paid a commission for each click that you generate from your videos. In order to see the analytics, login to your video manager in YouTube and you will see earning records and analytics. This will help you to determine which type of videos are making the most revenue. This helps you know what type of videos to create in the future.

Another good source fore free video editing programs are the demo versions of commercial software offered by most of the major commercial software makers. Some of these are simply light versions of the entire product, others are full versions that only work for a limited period of time or stamp a logo or product name on your finished work.

Pros: You can do a ton of work up-front, but get paid for it over and over again without taking more of your time. It really does well as long as you are promoting it without necessarily take more of your time. You are not trading your time for money. This type of monetization strategy pays the most, which also means you need fewer customers to generate revenue.

A web host can be a kid down the street or it can be a huge, physical plant with chipheads tending to racks of servers, customer support taking calls from subscribers and office people tending to routine business matters – like paying the electric company.

If you have minimal experience in taking care of a website, doing so might seem rather scary and fun all at the same time. This article offers a variety of practical and relevant guidelines that can help you to develop an understanding of web design fundamentals. The best web sites communicate a lot of information in a small amount of words. If you are long-winded, people will easily get bored and find another site that is more concise. Make sure any content is relevant and easy to understand.

First, you want customer care and tech support based in the U.S. A lot of web hosting companies outsource this task so you’re talking to someone 12 time zones away trying to “figure out” where you web site went.

What’s a terabyte? A measurement of bits and bytes on steroids. A terabyte is the equivalent of 1,000 gigabytes. More dramatically, a terabyte equals 1,000,000,000,000 bytes or 10 to the 12th power of bytes.

Any hosting company is equipped to register a domain name – your URL or web address. But, if you register your domain with host B and then choose host A, you have to redirect your domain or migrate it to the new host. You get the idea.

It may seem pretty simple, but the logo that you put on your website is going to make a big difference in the overall performance of your site. You must be sure that it expresses what you do, and what sets you apart from your competitors. If you cannot come up with a good logo on your own, seek help from a professional.

Domain name registration services and tools that give you the ability to easily manage your domain name. Don’t look for the cheapest domain registrar. You usually get what you pay for. Register your domain name with the hosting company that will rent you that disk space each month. Simplifies life on the web.

Promote your Company and your Product with a Good Website Look at web design as a fun, exciting way for you to reach out to your target group and promote both your company and your product. When done correctly, a good website is a great add-on to give you the ammunition needed to promote your business. Use these guidelines as soon as possible, and you will notice remarkable improvements.

Business continuity- A lot of people know that if their computer was stolen and the data was not retrievable, it could very well mean the end of their business. The good news about a lot of these loss-prevention strategies is that they are “set and forget”, designed to protect you if-and-when this were to happen to you or your business. That sinking feeling when you learn that you have not only lost your computers, but your data as well is stunning. It is a nightmare situation. If this were to happen, you would need to buy a new computer and plug-in your external hard drive to get back online. You can lose about a day or more of your time, as well as the cost of the new equipment and the high value of your data. The good news is that most mid level and up consumer camcorders record a more generic type of DV video that is easily edited. Most of the newer hard drive and memory card camcorders record a digitized video file that can be easily imported into your computer via a USB cable and then edited.

The world wide web runs on electricity, though we don’t usually think about it. But the fact is, without electricity you wouldn’t be reading this. You’d hunker down in front of the fireplace and read the newspaper by the dim light of a lamp fueled by whale oil. Sound like fun?

The biggest gotcha is that the video files captured by some of the more inexpensive “flash memory” or DVD camcorders can be very difficult to edit. If you have a Flip Camcorder, Sanyo Xacti, Kodak QuickShare, DXG Quickshots or other small camcorder, you need to make sure that the video and audio captured by the camcorder can be easily edited by the software package you choose. You may have to use a video converter software package to convert the camcorder’s unique video format into something more common that your computer will edit.

Are you considering earning some money for honest work, perhaps thinking about working from home, maybe facing retirement and looking for something to fill your days, maybe a stay-at-home Mom or Dad, or you just want to help others learn about your special interest? You can earn money doing so.

Look for a company that has a long lineage on the web. Experience in handling a large client base, dozens of servers and running a collaborative business with clients. A college kid can rent server space and become a hosting reseller. So you think you’re working with Bob’s Hosting Company, when in fact, you site’s on a server in the earthquake zone of the Philippines.

A complete website toolbox-free. Starting a web business shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. It should be available to anyone with the imagination to envision success on the web – and that’s millions of us all around the globe.

So, making a statement about your corporate culture and your business’ core values has to happen in the blink of an eye. Visitors will never even see the “About Us” page if you don’t create a good impression – in 10 seconds!

Always utilize media and content that is both relative to your site’s goal, but also interesting to the potential consumers who will be viewing your site. A site that has relative info, but that is not interesting, won’t captivate its audience. A website that uses fun, but non-relative information, will captivate the wrong audience. Both methods equal profits that you are losing.

An emblem or banner proclaiming that you employ green hosting makes an immediate statement about your on-line business. It says you care about the environment. It says you care about the future of the planet and our children and grandchildren who will populate Earth 25, 50 or 100 years from now.

Most of these compact and affordable camcorders record in some flavor of MPEG4 on an internal or removable memory card. You might need to do some research before you select your editing software. Do a quick web search on editing your camcorder’s software and you should get a good idea on what type of software to use.

One final thought: be patient. Expect to see some growth in visitor traffic in the first few weeks but typically, it takes 60 to 90 days before you start to see organic search engine results – your link on Google’s SERPs based on the keywords you’ve chosen.

How will prospects pay for your products or services? There are several options, here. PayPal has a commercial account option. Google Checkout is growing in popularity. The problem with these payment gateways is that they take visitors off your web site and they may never return.

Look for hard-wired fire walls, firewall software, anti-spyware and anti-virus protection on the server side. A reputable host has multiple layers of security so ask about security redundancy. Your host’s rep will be proud to explain, assuming you’re talking to a quality hosting company.

And again, you can imagine if that hadn’t been the case, the Web might look very different today to how it does. W3C isn’t the only organisation that’s doing all that hard work to try and hold the Web together. But it’s a very powerful organisation, and it has as its vision–I think it’s important to say this–a commitment to participation, knowledge sharing, and trust. And that’s not easy. That’s really, really hard work–the effort, the energy, that it takes to hold the Web together.

There are also a bunch of freeware program floating around. Some like Zwei-Stein Video Editor 3.01 have been around for a long time. Others pop up, look good, get a lot of buzz, and then disappear into the technology desert. Often these freeware programs do not offer a lot of support or instructions and are better suited to those who are techy in nature. Also, many of these freeware programs will run on Linux.Hide it- Do not leave your expensive equipment out in plain view. If you are in a car and you need to leave your laptop, tuck it away before you actually arrive to your destination and hide it some where safe, so if someone does break into your car, they will not be able to find it.

Facebook, alone, employs 30,000 servers as of October, 2009 and that number grows daily as more and more of us connect through this social media site. Amazon employs thousands of servers. Microsoft, Verizon and all of your other favorite sites employ thousands of servers strung together in arrays,

But there’s a lot more to web hosting than just storing web sites on gigantic hard drives. It’s not just about ROM. It’s also about RAM, which translates into the speed at which your web site interacts with site visitors. It better be fast. Studies reveal that 90% of us will sit through a 10-second download while only 10% will sit through a 30-second download. We’ve become that impatient.

Cons: This model is expensive to get started. After the event is over, it’s over. You have to constantly re-invent yourself. You can’t really sell online recordings of something that occurred ten months ago, for example, unless you have a subject or topic that is “evergreen”.

If you are an Internet Marketer who has figured out how to make money but you do not have great content, you deserve a big congrats. But, if you are like the rest of us, you need great content in order to make money online. You need to have a professional looking website to build your brand and promote your packaged product.

Some web sites are never found by spiders. For other site owners, it could be months before a Googlebot finds your site. By submitting a site map to the most popular search engines, you provide a map that spiders can crawl to insure that all pages of your site are indexed the first time through. You also tell the search engine what your site is about, how to navigate the site and which pages to crawl and which pages should not be crawled – pages, like your back office or your data base.

You should get everything you need to build whatever kind of website you want and whatever kind of website is in the budget. Your web host should provide web site templates for beginners (use them if you’re just starting out) to simple integration of a blog, a checkout, and the ability to hand code the site with a blank-slate option.

And we need to think very carefully about the consequences of that. Where we are now is also not guaranteed. The Web that we have now is not inevitable. The work that I’ve described to hold it together, the things that make the Web what it is today are not guaranteed. And we need to be very careful to consider if and how we want to keep the Web that we have now the way this it is now and what might happen if changes are allowed, changes for example in the way that government’s access our data in terms of questions about privacy, governance of the Web, corporate ownership of parts of the Web, and so on.

My recommendation for someone just starting out and with limited technical expertise and NO budget, is to start with MovieMaker for Windows or iMovie for Apple. Once you have mastered the entry level program and feel comfortable doing the basics of editing, then download and experiment with some of the free demos offered by Adobe, Ulead, Pinnacle and Avid.

That means it’s going to cost you something every month. You may have to pay a sign-up fee, a maintenance fee, and a bunch of other fees that nibble away at your margins. No, choosing a web host isn’t rocket science but you should at least know what questions to ask.

On the world wide web, Internet entrepreneurs who are good at creating content and building an audience often struggle with the question of building that traffic into a sustainable and profitable business. Often times speaking, coaching, sponsorships, partnerships, online events, and online courses are thought of as the best ways to monetize a brand online. It is true, these strategies can be effective and profitable, but in the long-term, you must find out (usually through trial and error) which strategy you enjoy the most. By solving the mystery of which monetization strategy you enjoy, you can increase your chances of being successful at it and gaining true freedom.

If you are cultivating your web design skills with an eye towards designing many sites at a professional level, it behooves you to learn how to use multiple platforms. PHP, MySQL, and Java will all come in handy in the future if you get into web design. You need to develop multiple talents if you’re going to be a successful web designer.

You may consider a web site with the sole purpose of selling advertising on it as so many of the “fringe” web sites out there do now. How many times have you gone to a site to get information on a subject only to find ads, and links to more ads? Very frustrating, isn’t it? Those that undertake this type of venture will find that the major search engines are doing everything in their power to ensure that “fringe” sites like theirs aren’t listed with them. If the site isn’t listed, no one will find it, and if no one can find the site, revenue will disappear. I choose not to be involved with this sort of chicanery. Also, your site text should focus on the objectives of the site visitors, NOT your objectives. Your objective might be to generate sales of your products, so you might be tempted to load your text with sales hype. Remember, your objectives and the objectives of site visitors are not necessarily the same. Attend to the needs of visitors and success will follow organically.

The Web has changed the world to be sure, but the world has also changed the Web over that period of the last 25 years. People have taken it, they’ve used it, they’ve transformed it, and all kinds of unexpected things have happened. And we really don’t know what’s going to happen next. Where are we at the moment? The last question I want to consider–where are we now? Two and a half billion users is amazing. But we’re heading for 7 and 1/2 billion people in the wild.

Don’t load rich content automatically. Rich content mainly refers to music and videos, but anything other than text or graphics qualifies. Many people browse in work environments where sounds suddenly playing is a big problem. Also, many people find such rich content annoying in general. Rich content should require some interaction from the user before playing.

However, lets assume you do have a way to capture your own footage and digital images. You can create a very nice web video by simply dissolving and panning across still images. Of course, most of us would prefer to start with real video that we shoot ourselves and then edit that.

When folks get to my site, I try to ensure that they will find enormous, useful content about the subject they are interested in. The content they find will entices them to stick around and visit other pages on my site. As they do this, the ads that appear will encourage them to visit those on-line advertisers, as the ads refer to the goods and services that they were already looking for, or they wouldn’t have even found my site in the first place.

Unlike hard drive camcorders or flash memory camcorders that let you simply transfer a digital file, you will need to capture the real time video using your editing software. The capture process converts a selected part of the video and audio on the camcorder into a digital file, suitable for editing. You go through your recorded video and then capture the parts of the recorded video you want to edit. Don’t bother capturing the bad stuff.

Be aware of your background. Some sites use moving GIFs in the background, but that can make text hard to read. Choose a background that accentuates what your site already has to offer, rather than works against it. This will help get your message across to your visitors.

Using software I found on the internet I “fill in the blanks” with knowledge. I use my knowledge of a particular subject and the system turns that knowledge into a web site. The software allows me to create the site in plain English using simple word processor software. It helps me determine if there is a market for the information I want to provide about my subject, and then it converts what I write into a pretty neat internet web site, if I do say so myself!

If you have a website that has an audience, then most likely you have plenty of high-quality well-selected images for your website or blog. But many bloggers or website owners are unsure of exactly how to monetize images not only to grow traffic, but also to generate an income.

Over time as your community evolves and grows and you go on your journey of building content and an audience, many bloggers, podcasters and YouTuber’s struggle with how to channel their community, take their content and audience to make money online. There are so many ways that you can monetize a platform so it does not come down to which one is best but rather by discovering the strategy you enjoy most.

Hosting is a commodity on the web. You or I can buy space from a web host and open up our own hosting company. The mother host provides all the tools and support you need to build your own hosting company in the basement office. (The one that floods occasionally. Ooops.)

One way to be in business on the web is by offering a virtual “store”. Many companies world wide now offer their products on-line, and this is a legitimate method of generating revenue. Providing you have something that others want, and that you are positively positioned (price / service / product mix etc.) you will make money as folks will order from you. I have no interest in creating a virtual store, as I’m not interested in having inventory, a warehouse, shipping and receiving facilities etc.

Most people in the world don’t use the Web. What’s going to happen when more people start using the Web? What are the consequences of the fact that most people are excluded or not included at least from the Web? Many of those people are in countries outside of the West, but it’s estimated that 15 million people in the UK have never used the Web. So we have to be really careful when we talk about the Web and we say its changed all our lives and we all use the Web, because we don’t.When you are dealt a bunch of lemons, you make lemonade. The worst scenario can happen to any business. Macs, iPhones, iPads, and PCs can get stolen or damaged when you least expect it, and it usually occurs at the worst possible time. No worries, however, because a little preparation and pro-active planning can save you a lot of grief in the long run.

I’m afraid I think that the answer to that is, no, that’s not how we got from there to here. And there’s three different things I’d like you to think about, which underline my reason for saying no. The first one is that technology on its own is not enough. However clever, however innovative something is, technologies don’t happen on their own. They happen because people use them.

All kidding aside, the ‘work’ involved with making money from the web entails writing down information about a subject with which you are already quite familiar. You will be telling folks about a passion you have. So, it’s not hard, but it does take time. There is no get rich scheme that works – that, death and taxes are the only certainties in life that I know of.

And people use them or don’t use them depending on the circumstances of their lives, depending on their motivations, depending on all kinds of social and economic factors. So the World Wide Web is a really obvious point. It needs to be able to read and write. If we don’t have maths literacy, no one’s going to use the Web, or at least not on the scale that we’re used to.

Use sound sparingly when creating your website. Don’t aggravate users by forcing them to listen to noise that they are unable to control. It’s OK to provide links to video or audio clips, but be sure it’s the user’s choice as to whether they hear it or not.

However, the rule is different for the web. Researchers have found that sans-serif fonts, specifically Verdana or Helvetica, work the best. People can more easily read on the screen when using these fonts. Thus, when setting font type, these are perhaps the best used.

It wasn’t. It was actually pretty boring compared to today’s instant information available only on the W3. If it happens any where – from Teheran to Terre Haute, it spreads virally across the digital landscape in seconds. That news bit also gobbles up electricity like nobody’s business.

Choosing a Website Hosting Firm Choosing a web host isn’t hard, though sifting through the good and not-so-good options can be a head-twisting experience – especially if you’re taking the plunge and building a web site or blog for the first time.

Arriving at my site will accomplish two things for the visitor. As they wander through it they will see what an ill-skilled web site builder has accomplished using some readily available and inexpensive software. They won’t know that I’m ill-skilled however, because the site looks really good. Further, as they read the content in my site they will see ads that appear from time to time on those pages. Not many, not intrusive, but ads none the less.

Get Feedback on your Website Get feedback on your web design. A web designer is only one person, and what you might find attractive or useful, might be considered by others to be irrelevant and hard to navigate. If possible, get some members of your target market to test your site and give you feedback on what they like and what they don’t.

Green hosts, once again, employ state-of-the-art tech to cool those thousands of servers. They use cold water, flushed through a water-tight system, to cool the server room, lessening the demand for more and more cold air from the local coal-burning energy plant.

Actually, you probably don’t even need a camcorder. You might not even need a camera or a web cam. There are lots of “free” video and images floating around on the Internet for you to borrow and use – as long as you are not trying to make money with your finished project.

You will already have to “open” your site folder (on the left) to access its contents on screen (whereas the website version [on the right of the FTP screen] will automatically display the contents of the primary folder [whether that is your site-name folder or your “welcome” folder on your own hard drive]). Keeping these two folders the one on your hard drive “MY WEBSITE” and the folder on the website the same will help keep your site organized and make it easier to Build Your Own Web Site for Free.

How to protect yourself from losing your data is important, whether it is business data, website data that you store on your web host’s server, payroll, photographs, videos… whatever the case may be. Protecting your data should be a top priority for your business.

Make sure the web host displays a variety of means of contact – especially a toll-free telephone number. E-mails are fine for billing questions and other matters that aren’t time sensitive. A down web site needs fixing now. You want that toll-free number 24/7/365.

Traditional hosts add to the demand for more energy by cooling servers with cold air. The server room in a hosting company is kept cool – so cool you could probably store sides of beef in there if the racks of servers didn’t take up so much space. That cooling requires energy and plenty of it.To save money, use free stock images when designing your website. These images can be found throughout the internet and are often as high-quality as those you have to pay for. By saving money on the images you use, you can spend that money on other aspects of design and business.

Seek time– A measure of how long it takes for a hard disk drive to move its heads to the correct part of the platters to find the data that it is looking for. This is measured in milliseconds (ms). This will be somewhere around 10 ms, give or take 5 ms. The lower the figure, the faster the drive finds the data.

External storage- Have an external hard drive and always backup your computer to an external hard drive. On Macs, there is a tool called ‘Time Machine’ and it literally does the same thing that crashplan.com does. Time Machine is handy and low-cost. All you need to do is setup the schedule on which you want your backup created. Buy a really long cable and put the external hard drive out-of-view. You can hide it under your desk or lock it in a drawer. It is much faster to retrieve your data from Time Machine than it is to download all your data from crashplan.com.

Cons: Your life now depends on that revenue windfall. If your advertiser or sponsor changes their mind, you can lose some serious revenue, which means you are out of tons of money and potentially out of business. Why? Because you no longer control your own revenue.

Well, for one thing, you start making money. But you may want to expand. Look for a flexible host with a flexible plan that allows you to expand incrementally as you add more products, more services, archives and other site features.

If you are getting really serious about video editing, add an extra hard drive to your computer, and store all your raw video files there. Hard drives are so cheap now that it makes a lot more sense to dedicate a separate hard drive just for video. Your computer will be happier to as it will be accessing the editing program from one drive and the video from a different drive. If you have a standalone back up system, you might want to dedicate it just to backing up the raw and completed video files on your video drive.

Send the link of your site-in-progress to friends and family and ask your testers to try to make the site crash or mis-perform. Are all links connected? Does the color motif shift depending on the browser the tester is using? Ask testers to do everything wrong – to intentionally crash the site. Why? Because if testers can find the dead-end link, a lot of your site visitors will find it, too.

A green host doesn’t add to the demand for more electricity from traditional sources. Instead, these far-sighted companies employ new technology – solar power, wind power, deep core earth energy, hydro-electric (where available) and bio-fuels that can be regenerated with another harvest of corn.

It’s only in 1989 that Tim Berners Lee wrote the first proposal for the World Wide Web, which was proposing a radically different way of sharing information on a global scale, built on the existing infrastructure of the internet.

The more people that visit, the more potential for visitors to click on the ads on my site, and the greater potential for earnings for me, and more importantly, earnings for the advertiser’s that trust their ad budget to Google.

So, no search engine is going to send its users to a web site that is “Under Construction.” Until you have all of your pages in place, your navigation bar hooked up and your opt-in module in place, stay off-line. If your half-built site is inadvertently spidered by Google, you’ll get slammed for delivering a half-built site and lots of blank pages.

For example, FREE web hosting companies place ads on YOUR web site. That’s how they make their money, and you’ve got no idea what ads will appear on your site. So, if you’re a medical doctor looking to build trust among site visitors, an ad for a “weekend” dating service isn’t going to make you shine. Avoid free hosts.

And very briefly, where exactly is here that we are at the moment? We’ve got some clues already from the previous lecture. So we know that the Web had a history. It didn’t come from nowhere. The Web was linked to technologies that existed before 1989.

This is not as complicated as it may at first sound but you will have the correct structure in place to allow you to stay organized and focused. It is extremely easy to lose your place when you have multiple files, by keeping the mirror folders in place you will always know where you are and the links will all work correctly.

The headline should indicate that your site delivers solutions to visitors’ problems. Low prices, free give-aways, free shipping – all attract attention and keep visitors on site longer. And the longer a visitor stays on site, the more likely she is to buy something, or pick up the telephone and give you a call. Consider your headline the most important piece of site copy you develop.Ask yourself, what is your area of expertise? What are you passionate about? What is your work history? What hobby do you have that you already know scads of people are interested in? What can you write pages of information on that really and truly provides valuable information to the people that read it?

And if your site is spidered when it’s off line, you’ll get slammed. SEOs (search engine optimizers) point to “Lack of accessibility to the site” as the number one negative ranking factor among search engines. Google isn’t going to send visitors to an inaccessible site so you need a quick fix quick.

To enhance the amount of information the user gets, we need to also try to constrain the viewing information as well as the amount of information we are giving. Thus, the viewing size in which the primary information is given should be reduced. This makes the reading task more familiar to users because, again, its more like reading hard copy, which is how we were originally taught to read: small pages with small bits of information. We weren’t originally trained on the landscaped rectangles we use to view web pages on, thus it just doesn’t seem natural.

The size of the page, and the amount of text on it are also extremely crucial to aiding people in their task of finding and understanding information. As we graze over a web page, we are scanning back and forth for specific pieces of information. Thus, long paragraphs tend to hamper our attempts. The more information we put in a paragraph, and the longer it is, the more people have to scan.

In this day and age, it is becoming increasingly clearer that people are opting to complete online searches using their mobile phones. This has led to an increase in the popularity of mobile web design, which ensures that clients are able to view websites even when on the go. Most clients, however, only look at making their website available to smart phones as a secondary thought, and here’s why:

Invite search engines to visit and crawl your site the day before you do a hard launch. A soft launch is just for friends and family who will provide their input on how to make the site better. A hard launch occurs when you “go live.”

Keywords are the search terms that people use when trying to find your web site. Start by taking a look at Google’s Keyword Generator, a great tool for first-time web biz owners. The keyword generator provides actual search terms that have been entered by Google users in the past 30 days.

Many people today want to make more money. Many want to do it on the web because that where there are literally millions and millions of customers. I’m here to tell you making money on the web is not hard. Understand what I’m saying here. It’s not hard. That does not mean it’s easy, just that it’s not difficult. I’ve been doing it for several years.

Now, along comes green hosting – hosting companies that employ “green” technology to lower the demand for electricity generated by coal- and gas-fired electricity generation plants. These businesses recognize that green hosting is inevitable as energy costs rise and we continue to pump tons of air-borne pollutants into the atmosphere every day.

If you are serious about getting into video on a budget, this is often a good path to take as the software maker wants to provide an easy to use and enticing path to the next step in the software upgrade – buying a commercial video editing package. With many of the commercial video editing software packages coming in under $100, I strongly recommend considering this method of getting your feet wet with video.

For flash and memory card camcorders, depending on what kinds of memory card the camcorder uses, and the kind of memory card readers on your computer, you may be able to simply pop out the memory card out of your camera and stick it directly into your computer for transfer and editing. A word of warning though – I prefer using the USB cable because the less times you handle the fragile memory card, the fewer chances there are for damage.

Your pre-launch web site resides on a web host’s server. It might be the server your programmer uses or it might be your own server with your own domain. In either case, you can ask friends and family to put your site to the test – the stress test.

Writing for the web however forces us to use a completely different set of rules, and those rules created for hard copy writing don’t really apply any more. For example, when writing for print you should really use a Times-like font when writing, because the slight serifs (the small marks at the end of each leg of a letter) allow the reader to quickly separate and identify the letters more quickly than any other letter. This is part of the meta-information of a document: it facilitates meaning without meaning something itself.

Also, the length of a page can be a detriment to design. Long, scrolling pages are harder to navigate as well, according to many studies. Users would rather skip to the next page, just like when reading a book, than scroll through a bunch of information they don’t need. We don’t use things like papyrus scrolls anymore, after all, so it’s hard for users to adjust to finding information in that manner. As everybody knows that, web presentation is a big cost and time saving solution. If we could run the presentation with the presenter’s video and narration online, it will be perfect. The difficulty of the web presentation is hard to integrate the presenter’s video and narration along with the PowerPoint presentation content. Is there any way to fix this problem?

All of it became much fancier, much more interesting and engaging. But also really importantly, Web 2.0 is used to describe a phase of the Web where user-generated content became possible. So it wasn’t just a relatively small number of people with high technical skills who could put information on the Web. All of us–you, me, anybody with access to the Web could put their information out there, whether it’s on Facebook or Twitter or whether we’re blogging, a whole range of ways in which people can share information, share their photographs, share their life histories, sell their products, be on eBay, whatever it is, user-generated content is driving the Web or has driven the Web to a large extent in terms of that growth in the recent period. It’s not stopping there. People now are talking about Web 3.0. And that’s something we’ll talk about later on it. But that is going to change again how the Web is and how we’re using it. The third reason why we can’t simply say, oh, the Web grew because it was a great technology, is because we’ve had to work very, very hard to make the Web what it is today.

Rather than having your content be a “hobby”, you are positioned very well. It is something that you can realistically achieve. Make money off of your online content. The hard part is building an audience, bulging a community of people that trust you. Generating great content is the hard part. If you already have the platform, you are more than 50% there, so people in this situation need to setup a strategy for monetizing their content. It is very obtainable for people in this situation.

Maybe it has something to do with how we read online. We scan for information, when we find that information we concentrate on it, and then move on. We tend to skip to topics sentences throughout a page. Thus, perhaps words in san-serifs stand out more. And because we aren’t reading an immense amount of text, we don’t need the same strategies we use when reading hard copy documents (with which we typically read much more than we do online anyway).

Website backup- Make sure that you keep a backup of your website data at all times. cPanel, which is offered by the best web hosting companies, has an easy to use backup utility. The backup tool is a quick way to backup your websites’ entire home directory or databases. There are many options and different filters that you can use to backup everything or only a few files. The files are compressed and then you can save them to your local machine or external hard drive.

This will cause a couple of things to happen. People will either get frustrated and leave, or they will not find the information they need because it’s buried under a layer of text they don’t need. Thus breaking up the paragraphs into smaller, more manageable chunks of information–usually by subtopic–is necessary to help people find information.

Best Ways to Monetize, Pros and Cons of Making Money Online

First off, everyone on the Internet is in separate camps when it comes to their money-making strategies. Many of the strategies work in some form or fashion, but in order to be successful in the long-run, you need to find out what works best for you.

You can use bigger font sizes, of course, for headings and titles, but try to limit the amount of larger font sizes used: it actually detracts from understanding and it’s hard to see the entire screen easily when the font size of any element is large.

Write content for your page with literacy levels in mind. Not everyone viewing your page will have graduated Harvard with a medical degree and some may have not even learned to read longer than a year or two ago. If you wish to expand your audience, you must first produce content that they can comprehend.

Interface– This is the connection between the drive and the computer’s processor. Older servers use PATA, also known as Parallel ATA or IDE. Newer servers use SATA, also known as Serial ATA. High-end, expensive servers use SCSI, and very high-end servers use Fibre Channel. If you are just starting out with your first dedicated web server, you will probably want a SATA hard drive.

The number one tip to help you to build your own web site for free is to get organized. Using my preferred method of post it notes write each section of your web site on a post it note. For example Home, Contact, Products, and Demo might be your main areas of your site. You would have a post it note for each of these sections. If you have other pages you would like to have on the site use another post it and place it under the section it would go into.

The good news is that there a lot of options for free editing software. This includes free editing software provided by Microsoft and Apple that is available when you buy a computer with those operating systems. For Windows, look for MovieMaker and for Apple, look for iMovie. Sometime the start up icons for these programs are easy to find. Sometimes you need to do a search or do a download from the Microsoft or Apple site. For example, with Windows 7, MovieMaker is part of the Microsoft Windows Live Essentials program. You may need to download and install it.Now for those of you not familiar with the terms used in this I’ll explain. A server is a computer, it can be any computer, it just has to have free hard drive space and network access. People store their information or websites on these servers and then access them when they need to. Or in a case of web hosting whenever a person types in the address of the page. As you can guess these machines have to have a good deal of processing power if there are large amounts of people accessing them.

Not all visitors have PayPal accounts so that’s a dead end. Consider adding a merchant account to your web site. These payment gateways enable buyers to pay securely with their credit cards, though the merchant account company will take a big bite out of your profit margins, often collecting 3%-4% of the total purchase each customer makes.

RAID– This is where two or more hard disks are connected together, which gives improved speed and/or reliability compared to a single hard disk drive. You should consider RAID hard disks for your web server to improve reliability.

Developing a good list of 15-20 key words and keyword phrases is one of the most important pre-launch steps you’ll take. And, you’ll, no doubt, tweak your keywords over time. Some keywords will drive more traffic than others. The ones that drive traffic are keepers. The ones that don’t drive traffic are dropped and replaced with stronger keywords.

Getting a little recognition on the W3 is hard, even in a niche market (especially in a niche market). You have less than 10 seconds to convince a site visitor to stick around long enough to learn about the quality of your services, your products or your message. Web surfers are jagged out on information overload. If they don’t see what they want to see on your home page or a landing page, they bounce.

Process is complicated: Finally, the process of actually putting together a website for a smart phone is quite complicated and one that not many clients understand. The fact that the website looks almost the same as the desktop version can make it a hard sell.

We need disposable incomes. If people can’t pay for access to the internet, they can’t buy computers, they’re not going to use the World Wide Web. Slightly more complicated, this, but it needed a range of use values. So if all you could do on the Web was share physics datasets, not very many people would be using it. All the physicists might be, but nobody else would be using it. And it also needed an open model. If the Web had been copyrighted, if we have to pay every time we wanted to use it, would it looks like it looks today? I really don’t think that it would. And those of you who watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics last year in 2012 might remember Tim Berners-Lee being present to that ceremony with a message flashing around the Olympic Stadium in London, saying, this is for everyone.

If you have a tape based DV camcorder, the video signal needs to be converted into a digital format before editing. Luckily most camcorders have a USB or Firewire output jack makes it easy to do that for you. Plug in the appropriate cable to your computer and then transfer the files to your raw video hard drive for editing.

In 1989, or 1990, I suppose, to be more accurate, you could put static Web pages up–text, no visuals. And the only people really who could put Websites up were those who had quite high-level technical skills to be able to do that. All of that changed as we moved into a second generation of the Web, what people have called Web 2.0, where it started to look much nicer. You could have visuals, you could have dynamic Web pages.

Creating a website that generates money for you day after day is not hard either but it’s not trivial. There are things you have to do, procedures you absolutely must follow, in order to get the results you want. Are there different ways of doing things? Of course. Just like there are different kinds of cakes there are different kinds of money generating sites and they require different procedures. There are simple sites that just have ads on them, there are sites that sell products you create and there are sites that sell other people’s products. There are sites that use a different combination of all three. Building each of these sites requires different “ingredients” and different procedures.

Hosts employ the latest in fiber optic technology, they boost RAM and deliver quick downloads even quicker. Green web hosts do this without further straining the energy system that we rely on to log on, watch TV and cook dinner by using non-traditional resources to power up your web site whenever a site visitor stops by.

Spindle Speed– This is simply how fast the platters (the hard metal disks that store the data) rotate. It is usually between 5,400 and 15,000 rpm. In a low to mid range web server you should be looking for a 7,200 rpm drive. A high end server would have 10,000 or 15,000 rpm drives. The faster the spindle speed, the faster the drive can read and write data, so faster is better. Some large business sites require design and implementation of an extranet or intranet for employee use and access. Depending on the backend or database needs of the client, this requires a separate bid for cost. The type of database required will also affect the overall cost, i.e., MSAccess, SQL, MySqL, Cold Fusion, Php or an Oracle database.

Know that I am not a computer programmer. I do not have extensive knowledge of html, though since I’ve been “playing” on the web I couldn’t help but learn some. I am not a graphic artist but I like to experiment with paint programs on my computer. I like digital photography, and it is gratifying to use my own pictures on my own site should I wish to. My software library does not contain much in the way of programs for web page development. I couldn’t build a website from scratch of my life depended on it. My “expertise” is solely related to the areas in which I have earned my living in the years before becoming a web site publisher.

Beyond adding moving images or animations, what if you wanted to add simple check boxes to a customer form or add a dropdown navigation that displays the location to your interior pages? Again, unless you’re handy with HTML coding, you’ll have a hard time inserting these items into your Web form — if the flexibility of the template system allows it.

You can make money on the web but it takes patience, time and doing the correct things in the correct order. Just like building a house you lay the foundation, you frame the house, you weather proof it by putting on a roof and windows then you finish the inside. Imagine trying to put the roof on before putting in a foundation. Silly right? Unfortunately that’s what many people do when they try to make money on the web and then are surprised when it doesn’t work. It’s not their fault. They just don’t know how to do it successfully. They waste their money and their time.

Uniqueness:

The template websites are common and when the visitor clicks on them, they do not find anything special that appeals to them. On the contrary a tailored web site is unique and appeals to the visitor to buy what is being offered by it. A custom website creates a unique identity in the mind of the visitor and this is where the template website falters.

From a site owner’s perspective, that stat translates into a loss of 80% of your prospects in that 20-second download window. So you want more RAM, more bandwidth and unfettered access to the server’s CPU and other shared assets – server parts you share with other sites.

Cache– The drive stores some data in Random Access Memory known as the cache buffer. It is much faster to access the buffer than it is to find data on the drive. The drive controller keeps data that you have recently used in the cache in case you need it again, and it also reads data from the disk that it thinks you might ask for next. This makes it faster to access data, so long as the data you asked for is in the cache. Otherwise the drive will have to find it on disk. Cache memory is especially important for accessing small, frequently used files. Cache sizes start from around 8 Megabytes, the more the better.

Navigation:

The layout of the custom website is not only attractive but simple and easy to understand. The custom website facilitates the visitor with easy navigation. The visitor can easily find what he/she is searching for in the least number of clicks. The template website hardly pays any attention to the navigation. The ease at navigation affects the indexing on the search engine list too.

A web server’s hard disk drives are vital because they are where your website data is actually stored. There are several important technical terms to describe hard disk performance. They sound complicated at first, but they are actually very simple. Knowing what these terms mean can help you to choose a hard disk drive, or understand whether a web hosting company is giving you a good deal on a server. Here are the main terms used to describe hard disk drives.

First off what is web hosting? Web hosting is where a person with a spare computer buys a certain amount of bandwidth from an ISP and then sells it to people. Clients then pay money for parts of the total bandwidth, and to host their site on the server, a.k.a spare computer. Essentially they pay a fee, and their website is stored on another person’s computer, and people on the internet can access it.

In way of explanation let me go back to the days when I had a tech call in show in central New York. It ran for 8 years and I used analogies to explain, to people of all levels, difficult technical problems they called in with. I think everyone would agree that baking a cake is not hard. Now, obviously that depends on the cake you want to bake. We’re not talking about a large wedding cake but just a simple two layer birthday cake for a child’s birthday party. Cooking the cake is not hard. However things have to be done a certain way, in a certain order, in order to get the results you want. If for example you put the flour, sugar and all other dry ingredients into a large bowl and baked it without mixing you probably would not get the results you want. Doing that would be a huge error. What if you made only a small error? What if you combined all the ingredients in the right proportions and put them into a couple of cake tins and baked them but didn’t grease the pans? Again you might not like the results you get. Even a small error can prevent you from achieving the results you want. Making a cake is not hard, but it’s not trivial either. If you are serious about launching a Web site to grow your business, you can do it without mortgaging your house. Here are some facts and figures to consider when putting together the budget for your Web site. Here are some figures I came up with while comparing Web site firm quotations across the United States.

The home page will be a file or web page the visitor sees when he types in your domain name. This file which we will name index.html will be the only file in the MY WEBSITE folder the rest of the contents will be folders (images, contact, products and demos from the example). Your MY WEBSITE folder will contain folders with the names of the sections of the site that you have decided upon.

Password protect your web browser- If you think about it, with a browser you access your bank accounts, merchant systems, everything that is important to a business. In FireFox you can setup a master password so that if you decide to use FireFox to save your passwords, the master password will protect that important data. Or adjust the settings in all your browsers so that no passwords are saved. In this case, consider an application called 1PassWord which is an app that you can buy on your Android, iPhone, Mac or PC. 1PassWord integrates with DropBox. Dropbox syncs your team’s work across all your devices – working on the go has never been more seamless or easy. Create and use a very strong password to get into 1Password. It integrates with all the major web browsers. The app “cross syncs” all your devices so that all your passwords are the same on every single device you use. Another password tool that is useful is called RoboForm (my personal favorite). These tools give you the ability to centrally store all your passwords in one convenient location. If you lose your laptop, you can install 1Password or RoboForm, login, and then you have the ability to do whatever you want because you have all your passwords.

So you took the bait and signed up for your first hosting plan that includes a Web site. Your newly acquired hosting plan probably has a programmed plug-and-play template system. This system has been designed with the novice user in mind. Usually you are required to log in and begin by picking the style of Web template that suits your business. Then you enter some text in a few pages, and launch your new Web site. Now you can sit back and watch the money pour in the door. You might even try one of those services that submits your Web site to thousands of search engines for $19.95. Now the money is sure to pour in.

Things ain’t going to get better, folks, unless our corporate culture does an about face and stops drawing down available energy. Major cities, like Los Angeles and Phoenix, already experience rolling blackouts as parts of the energy grid are shut down for a while. New York City broadcasts “please turn off your air conditioners” on the hottest summer days and brown-outs are almost routine.

Upgrading:

In the template website there are a lot of limitations, especially with reference to the upgrading. This is because the template website is hardly flexible. This can be detrimental to the business, because the website owner can hardly add any recent developments in the business or addition to the product/service list to the website.

When you are choosing a website hosting service, you want to see exactly what is included in their offer. Pay close attention to how much bandwidth, CPU usage and disk space each package includes. Be sure that you understanding what is included.

Notice how none of these elements have anything to do with how many people you serve, how long you have been in business, what services your agency offers, or how successful you are. A website is a window into your travel business. If the frame and window are broken or muddy, it does not matter how nice your business is, it will not get people to contact you.

By following these tips, you can minimize the possibility of this type of scenario disrupting your business operations. If something bad does happen, you can be back online within a matter of hours, rather than days or weeks.

Change is hard: For many clients, they are still becoming familiar with standard web design, so throwing mobile devices into the mix is too much to handle. Some clients also don’t understand why these websites are so important, and it is hard to convince them otherwise.

If you are extremely lucky, a prospective customer might find your bargain template site on page 575 of the Google search engine. That’s not a good thing since most Web surfers won’t look past page 2 or 3 in a Web search for a product, service or information. The problem with Web templates is they are “closed systems.” Usually navigation placement is hard coded so that custom programming or effects are not allowed. On the other hand, “open systems” allow web coders to fine tune and tweak the code within your Web pages to assist you in generating a favorable position in the major search engines. Many bloggers use WordPress. It is the most popular blogging content management system on the Internet today. People use images as a way to complement their articles and create interest. The question is, however, how can a blogger take those images to build an audience? Traditionally, bloggers were encouraged by their marketing staff to never include text on their images. Because after all, search engine bots can not read the text on images. But that strategy has changed with the dawn of the social media era. Pinterest, for example, has evolved into one of the fastest growing social media networks and it is the quickest way, second only to Twitter, to build an audience-fast!

Don’t link these blog posts to your web site until you actually launch. Search engine bots and people follow links and, again, if a bot or a human discovers a half empty web site, chances are they won’t be back.

You want to be at the premium end of your market. You want to have premium clients. Do you want to be the cheapest on the block or the premium? What is your market and look at the higher end of the market. Look at those price points. You want to be in that premium range.

Actually many specify “verdana, sans-serif;” just to be safe. In such a case if verdana is not available, the available sans-serif will be displayed. This might be a trend, after all web design is design after all, but research has demonstrated that sans-serifs seem to enhance understanding when reading online information.

Experts suggest that energy consumption by web hosts will continue to double every five years and studies show these web pros are actually being conservative. Some “green” bloggers suggest the amount of electricity consumed by web hosts will double every 30 months.

Many customer inquiries to my company concern these so-called “Web site publishing systems.” Customers usually call me after spending their hard-earned money on a Web template system that leaves them frustrated and disappointed. But I can hardly blame them; the Internet is a new frontier. Radio and television commercials are popping up left and right to hawk Web hosting companies, just like the carpet-baggers and snake-oil salesmen emerged in the proverbial Wild West. Not to say their Web template systems are a bad thing or that they don’t work. They do. But you better have an in-depth knowledge of HTML if you want to publish a Web site that is original and dynamic. Otherwise, your Web site will be lost in the clutter of the World Wide Web.

PowerPoint is still the most popular tool for presentations now. It could integrate images, movies, narrations, animations to make the presentation animated and interactive. But the PowerPoint file is big and hard to share on the web, hard to integrate with the presenter’s video and narration to live up the presentations.

Remote backup- Crashplan.com remote back up in place is a good idea to protect your computers. These backup plans will backup anything that has changed every single day. If your computer crashes, you can download it from crashplan.com. It is worth the investment. Your data is stored in the cloud and it is encrypted.

As the saying goes, “An image tells a 1000 words.” Make sure the words your image conveys, puts you in a good light and gets to the point quick. Also be sure that your image sizes are small. If you’re using a digital camera, the image sizes will be huge, often 2000K+. If you upload photos this large, they will take a very long time to display to the user. In fact, if your image is that big, chances are good that the user will never even see the picture! Good image sizes are between 100K to 500K. WordPress or other content management software will make uploading, cropping and sizing images easier. When you take photos use good lighting. Also, don’t have too many images that clutter your page. If you have a lot of images you want to showcase, use an image gallery instead.

Of course there are some companies that in addition to providing the space for your website or information, also offer the actual internet access themselves. This path leads to domain hosting, and is far more complicated than simple web hosting. This is often done by major companies that lay the actual hard lines that the internet runs through.

You’ll get 149,000,000 search results for web hosts. Now, not all of these SERP links are for actual web hosts. Some are for reviewing sites (that use web hosts), blogs about web hosts (that use a web host to get their blogs out to the masses) and even SERPs links to sellers, resellers and re-re-sellers of hosting services.

A website that is professionally designed, filled with generous content that is useful for their clientele, and a site that portrays the social agenda that fits your company’s goals. The web site identifies the hosts “brand” – it’s corporate culture. Some use funny logos and radical type fonts, targeting a “younger” demographic. Other hosts have a more professional appearance and take the time to explain it’s corporate values, i.e. commitment to client satisfaction, tech support, fair prices and good value. If you’re serious about your web site, go with a host that is serious about hosting.Once you have decided on your main sections for your site create a folder for each section inside the MY WEBSITE folder. You’re MY WEBSITE folder will now contain a number of folders. There will be images, contact, products and demo if we use the previous example. You do not need to create a folder to represent Home.

The internet, of course, was really important–microchips, the personal computer, file transfer protocols. And it was also linked to much broader technologies that were shaping our modern world –mass production, electricity, the cables that provided the internet. But as well as technological innovations that enabled us to develop the Web, it’s important to recognize that it was linked to a cultural history. As we’ve heard in the previous lecture, it wasn’t the first way of thinking about a global information infrastructure.

An excellent tip which will assist web designers in creating their own site, is discovering an excellent selection of checklists and cheat sheets that you can go back to when you encounter any problems on your site. This will also provide you with inspiration on how to make your site better.

The first thing you should do is create a folder on your desktop and name it something you will remember like MY WEBSITE. You will be using this folder to collect all your graphics, and text and web pages you are going to create. If it is all in one place then it is not hard to find when you go to send it to the website. Inside the folder MY WEBSITE make a folder and name it images. Into the images folder you will put all the graphics you have prepared for your web site.

Web hosting providers provide the following basic services for web servers – anything else can be considered add-on features in theory, although in practice they are essential to run a successful Internet business or business website.

Depending on what web-site you are planning to create you may need support for different web development languages like php, perl and others as well as support for databases that can allow registering of users, posting of comments and other needed and functional extras. Of course the decision if the web-site should have those extras is completely for you to choose.

Web hosting can be an interesting adventure to say the least. While not as confusing as you might think it still takes quite a bit of work. Not to mention good technical and math skills. You also have to have a good sense for handling money.

Password protect your computer- Always have a password to login to your computer. It is a bit of a deterrent. If someone steals your computer, they will most likely re-format your hard drive rather than try and get through the password protection.

Even your PC pumps out a lot of heat and heat is the enemy of all those circuit boards, CPUs and other electronics inside the box. Now multiply that by thousands – tens of thousands of servers all humming along pumping out heat. To keep these servers happy, they need to be cooled.

What’s a server? Well, in simplest terms, a server is not much more than a humongous hard drive in a box. Your web site (or future web site) resides on one of these server hard drives, along with hundreds of other web sites. Today, server disk space is measured in terabytes.

If you don’t have the funds available for the creation of a “professional level Web site” you should at least purchase and secure your domain name. You can do this for a very modest fee. Visit networksolutions.com, register.com or godaddy.com online or call them toll-free to get started.

What they estimated first was that there was close to 320 million pages of Internet information and content and so more ground should be patrolled for what they found out just 14 months later was that the actual number of pages was more than double of this initial estimate. There is 6 trillion bytes of information on the Web but the library of congress has 20 trillion bytes. Publicly available were about 3 million servers according to the random surfing exercise of 2,500 Web sites done by researchers and they also found out that these had 289 pages per server.

And indeed, if you read science fiction at all, go and have a look at William Gibson’s book Neuromancer, was written in 1981. And you’ll find it almost impossible to imagine that that book was written before the Web existed, because there it is, in 1981, in this book. The Web also had a history that was tied in with economics and with social change. So we need to think about the postwar economic boom.

Another option is the free bundled software that you may get with your camcorder or other video peripheral or accessory. These are usually limited versions that allow you do to simple cuts and video assembly but not much more. However, as they are free, and come with your camcorder, you know that they will work with the video that you capture with your camcorder. A word of caution though – I have found that many of these “free” bundled programs are not the smoothest when it comes to user interoperability and often have very limited instructions. What I see from most books and e-mails that I receive is that people are led to believe they can be successful overnight. That’s like saying if it takes 30 minutes to bake a cake at 400 degrees then putting the batter in a 1200 degree oven should only take 10 minutes. That’s absurd and so is being successful overnight. We’re bombarded with promotions and emails that tell us we can do something in 24 hours. If someone told you you could become a brain surgeon in 24 hours or a successful marathon runner in 24 hours or a master carpenter in 24 hours you would laugh them out of the room. You know the training and skill level it takes to master these professions. However, faced with something you may not know about, making money on the web, these claims resonate with a truth. Probably because you want it to be true; not because it is.

SEO:

The custom website is search engine friendly as well as user friendly. The content has the right density of the key words and key word phrases that are being used by the prospective buyers when searching through the search engines.

Sustained Transfer Rate– How fast the drive can transfer large files that do not fit into the cache buffer, or small files that were not in the cache. In other words, this is the maximum rate that the drive can read files from the disk itself. The greater the rate, the better, especially if most of your data is stored in large files.

How much would you need?

The average web site that just makes use of static HTML pages need about 5 MB to 10 MB of space. If you use a dynamic website where some of your data is stored in a MySQL database the database will also take up space. These types of sites require more space and anything between 100MB and 250MB should be enough.

This is simple version of web hosting though. In the case of large scale companies and services typically a company will set up with quite a few servers. Then offer people space on the servers, and charge a fee for it. This fee covers the wear and tear on the hard drives and also pays the ISP the company is running through. If a person wants their website to have more bandwidth they upgrade their plan. Essentially the same but slightly different in scale.

There is more information on the World Wide Web than ever, some 800 million pages, but Internet search engines are able to guide people to less than half those pages, according to a new study by a team of computer scientists. Search engines are increasingly falling behind in their efforts to index the Web. One institute is owned by a computer and communications firm.

I also recommend creating a separate directory for raw video files on your computer hard drive and then transferring all your raw video files there – prior to editing them. Editing goes quicker when you are working with video and audio stored on a local hard drive rather than on the video memory card or the camcorder’s hard drive. Transfer the video, unplug the camcorder and/or remove the card from the computer. Then edit!

This kind of web designer cannot be deterred by failure. On the contrary he/she considers failure to be the first step towards success and a part of learning process. He/she believes that hard work will pay off one or the other day. He/she works hard to be different from the rest.

All you really need is access to a camcorder and to a computer because there are a lot of FREE resources available to you for creating your Internet and web videos. This includes a wide range free video editing programs and web sites.

Eyes ‘on’ at all times- Video surveillance can be added to the outside of your home or office. Point the camera at the driveway so that you can capture the license plate numbers of the car. You can also put video surveillance inside of your office. “SVAT CV301” is a video surveillance system that has night vision, day-time vision and high definition. They have hard drives inside of them and record a few weeks of video. They are literally running around-the-clock.

The best hotel websites are easy to read, easy to find information, easy to navigate, and have compelling content. Like a good frame on a work of art, the design should enhance the picture and keep your eye focused on the art. You don’t want to look at a Monet and say, “Wow, that’s an bad frame”, or even the opposite, “Wow, what a pretty frame!”. The goal is to not even notice the frame.

You need to shop for web hosting. When I say shop that means you will need to properly choose a web hosting service. You need to do some surveys on hosting providers. Something need your attentions is that the cheapest hosting doesn’t mean the best and also the most expensive one might not suit your needs. Therefore, be smart in the shopping. Know what you want, and look for the things. Always compare and review web hosting services.

Designers, just like other human beings, have different personalities. Now what does personality mean? Personality refers to mask that is worn by people in different situations. For a person working in the office there are mainly two masks; one for the office and the other for his/her family and personal life. When it is the case of web designers, the designer needs to have different masks for clients, business associates or the company’s management, colleagues, friends and family. Some of the basic personality traits remain the same. Some of the most prominent kinds of personalities among web designers are as follows.Someone wanting to get a web design done has two alternatives. The first one is using the templates that available at nominal rates and at times free too. The second alternative is to get the web design customized through a professional adept web designer. Study and experience reveals that the tailored websites always have an edge over the template websites. Some of the factors responsible for this are as follows.

A number of simple information requests are made day in and day out and it is because of this that most people fail to notice what they are not seeing according to a search engine expert. This particular imbalance in cataloguing is expected to continue on for more years and this can be attributed to the fact that the rate of increase in computer resources will be faster than the production of information content by humans to be posted on new sites.

So depending on your needs you will have to choose from different business web hosting plans that will provide you with different resources and extras. From the cheapest secure web hosting providing you with limited bandwidth and hard-disk space to the top plans which give you unlimited bandwidth and digital space and the possibility to create a flexible and functional web-site using different development application languages! So if you are a small home company or a big enterprise you will need a web-site which can promote your new offers and products. No matter which category you go to we can give you the best offers at extremely competitive rates of cost.

The Web that we have now is not guaranteed. Lastly, the Web will not stand still. The Web is going to change. There’s no doubt about that. I think all that effort couldn’t hold it still if we wanted it to. So we all need to take responsibility for the Web for understanding where it is, where it might go in the future, and our part in that. And those are the challenges that Web Science faces.

The price or hard disks have come down dramatically over the past year or so and it is not unknown for a hosting provider to make provision for packages from 250Megabytes up to 2000 Megabytes and even more.

That brand new computer you just bought MIGHT have a 500 gigabyte hard drive. A server has dozens of terabytes of storage. It also has tons of RAM (128 gigabytes of RAM isn’t unusual) so that the server can deliver the bandwidth required for fast downloads of all the sites stored on that server.

The concept of a mobile web design should be at the forefront of most clients’ minds today, especially as more and more people begin to use smart phones and iPads for searching. But, because changing your mentality is hard, these sorts of websites are expensive and they are highly complicated, most clients tend to put this concept into the too hard basket.

This is what you are actually renting, for all practical purposes. You need hard disk space on a web server to host your website. A website really consists of a lot of files, much like MSWord documents, or Excel spreadsheets. These files take up hard disk space. The web hosting provider provides you with space so that people around the world who has access to the Internet can access those files on that web server.

There are designers for whom nothing is impossible. These designers are very good at communicating and convincing the people. They will go to any extent to please the clients. These designers are sometimes quite expensive and even unaffordable. These designers will always coordinate the sources of work and submit it to the client as if they themselves have done the work. Designers with this type of personality always try to take the credit of the success despite other’s effort.

Compared to share web hosting, It is more expensive to host your web site on a dedicated server. You may wonder why to even think about using a dedicated web hosting solution. There are many advantages to having your own dedicated server. There are several web hosting providers with different web hosting plans that can provide you with the right kind of dedicated web hosting solution.

Peace of mind- It is golden to know that you are protected if your hard drive crashes or if an unscrupulous individual breaks into your office and steals your computers. Just knowing that this scenario will not spell the end of your business is priceless. It helps you to sleep at night. And if you are thinking, “This will never happen to me”, think again. It has happened to almost everyone at least once-a file was not saved properly and you needed to re-create it or a hard drive crashed. All business owners can relate. Theft and a hard-drive crash amount to the same type of loss to your business. They have the same outcome. And the outcome is that your business operations are severely disrupted.

Knowing that web hosting is important in our live we have to learn more about it. By understand what is it and what the providers do. We can be more accurate in picking up a suitable web hosting for our own.So – we’ll assume you have now set up your four (or however many!) main areas within your website. Now you have to choose where you are going to put your welcome page (the first “home page” that visitors to your site will see).

Third advantage of dedicated web hosting is security. You are the only person who has an access to the dedicated server. You can be certain that nobody is installing any malicious code or ever viruses on the server that hosts your important website. You can even have you own external firewall to make sure that you are the only person allowed to access the server.

With regards to font size: larger is not better! Large fonts make for awkward reading, and it is difficult to use the space effectively to find the information we’re looking for when the words are too big. A font size of what would be equivalent to 11 pt typically are the best. Sans-serif fonts tend to be larger anyway, so scaling it back down from what we would normally use on hard copy (12 pt) is needed anyway.

PPT2Flash Professional converts the PowerPoint presentations to Flash with presenter’s video and narration in one click. It works as a PowerPoint add-in. Presenter could easily distribute the Flash presentations to their website or training center for sharing. The Flash format is safer and smaller for web distribution.

So – now – you have your main site folder constructed, and your sub-folders (for however many areas you chose), and the images folder set up. You have completed the first steps to build your own web site for free.

Fourth advantage is that you have more options with hard drives. With a dedicated server you can opt to have two hard drives where the other hard drive will always be a mirror image of the other one. It is almost impossible for both of the mirrored hard drives to go bad at the same time. You will never loose any data because of a hard drive failure.

A hard line is the actual physical line, like the coax cable going to the back of your TV to provide cable service. Many internet users still prefer hard lines instead of wireless connections for their computers. Sure being wireless is nice but it is a little unstable at times. That’s the blessing of a wired network, no randomness, it either works or it doesn’t.

We need to think about electronics. We need to think about the Cold War. We also need to think about mass higher education and the way in which science was funded in the postwar period. So the Web had a history–a technological, a social, an economic, and a political history in terms of where it came from. In 1989, Tim Berners-Lee made a very specific proposal to use HTTP, HTML, and URLs or URIs to share information and to navigate information on a global scale.

In closing web hosting is an interesting thing to do. Not to mention profitable if you can manage things right. It’s definitely not something you rush into; people are paying you money to host their sites. You also have to deal with them whenever something goes wrong. We all know how it can be to deal with a disgruntled person over the phone.

I would like to emphasize again that the evolutions of internet is quick. If you would like to be advance in online tech stuffs, web hosting is something you must learn about. If you are going to host your first blog or website, get your own hosting and you will discover a lot more fun with it.

Track it- LowJack is a piece of software that allows you to report your computer stolen and allow the police to track it. Another option is something that comes by default with Macs. Mac has “Find my iPhone” also known as “Find my Mac”. If you login to iCloud.com and you have enabled location devices on all of your computers and smart phones. It will pull up a map and show you where your devices are. Logmein.com is remote access software and allows you to remotely login to your PC or Mac and, at that point, you can look up the IP address to see where your device is. Options to locate your computer are important, easy and, in some cases, free.

Take the time to do some research. If you run across something that tells you how to be successful overnight run in the opposite direction. Quickly. It’s going to be a waste of your time and money. Get some training. There are many resources out there written by people that are successful. Take the time to read them. Take the time to follow them. It really is like baking a cake. It’s not hard but that does not mean it’s easy. You can do it. Anyone can if they follow instructions and take their time.

This I where you start seeing computers with dual CPU slots and up come in. This role is typically what those blade servers you see advertised on television are for. ISP stands for internet service provider; this would be the people that provide you internet access. Without these people web hosting would be impossible.

If you are going to store emails on your server you need to add these into your calculations. Emails can take up a lot of web space very quickly if people send you large files. You will need to monitor the space taken up by Emails very carefully since I have seen individual mailboxes go up to 50 or 60 MBs very quickly. To help your website function the way it is intended to, make sure all your links are working. If you have broken links then your visitors may get frustrated when they try to click on something that interests them. Frustrated visitors is not something you want because they end up leaving your site mad.

“As a president, I always join many meetings and trade shows to present our products or corporation. There is no problem with the live presentation. But I’m stuck when I want to sharing the meeting with others after it. Because I need present the same presentation again and again even spend additional high costs on driving or flying. The boring continual repetition makes me crazy. Is there any way to take my live presentation to the web? – Mr. Cooper”

Bandwidth depends on your traffic. Every visitor to your website will consume bandwidth since this is what they will use when they open any pages on your site. Once again, if you have video and audio files on your site you will require more bandwidth. A good rule of thumb is to have an allocation of about 100KB (Kilobytes) for every visitor. This means that 500 visitors per month will consume about 50MB of bandwidth – although this is only true for an average site with mostly text and a few pictures. If you have large picture galleries, audio and/or video files you should rather work on 150KB per visitor or even more. Search engine spiders also consume bandwidth! You should monitor your bandwidth usage through your CPanel control panel or your website statistics and make sure that you communicate early enough with your hosting provider in case you need to purchase more bandwidth to prevent penalties and/or lockouts.

Can you earn money from the web to help you survive, even prosper, doing so legitimately and without ripping people off or by indulging in illegal activities? The answer is yes, of course, otherwise there wouldn’t be much point in writing this article, would there? 🙂

A brand new service gives you an easy-to-use way to integrate the presenter’s video with PowerPoint slideshows, sharing the results online. This simple tool makes it a piece of cake to run the presenter’s video content side-by-side with PowerPoint presentations. So the audience could get the presentation running alongside with presenter’s video and narration in action, likes that the presenter stands by them. This really has the power to bring online presentations to life. There are many tools such as Wondershare PPT2Flash Professional and services like Omnisio, Zentation to integrate the video along with the PowerPoint slideshows. Here is the comparability of the two ways.

Choose keywords that are specific to the topicality of your web site. For example, if you sell alternative medical cures and supplements, you’ll discover that the search term “self help” is used over one million times each month. But “self-help” can include everything from career coaching to weight loss to strength training. It’s too broad a term for your web business that sells tinctures and alternative medical treatments.

You are also going to need FTP access to upload files to your web server. Without being able to use FTP you will not be able to maintain the content on your site (unless you make use of a Content Management System). FTP access is still required even in that case since you will definitely have occasion to have to upload files such as pictures, audio, video and other files to your server.

This type of designer always like to serve one client at a time and when that client is satisfied, he/she will take the work of other clients. A reformist designer will always like to share his/her knowledge with others and try to upgrade the clients, designers and the public around. He has a positive frame of mind and likes to bring about long lasting changes through peaceful means.

Quality hosts don’t want to lock you in to some long-term contract. They don’t want unhappy clients, they want happy clients. So, a quality web host will offer a 30-day trial period so you can take your new web site out for a test drive. BTW, using templates, building and maintaining a web site is pretty automated and, therefore, simple and it doesn’t take a lot of time.

The top six search engines are able to cover 60 percent of the Web and this was found out after researchers conducted a similar study at the end of 1997 and here the best search engine was able to hit a third of all sites. According to one report from a renowned journal last February there were only 42 percent of all sites found in a test of 11 top search engines not to mention n one program able to cover more than about 16 percent of the Web.

Basically you can do a lot of things with web hosting. One of the most popular things to do is blogging you can either write a hobbyist or a business blog. With hobbyist blog you can share your thoughts and hobby while building up a online network; with business blog you can share your products online and have some customer service there. Besides blogging, you can build an internet business that make money from affiliate programs and Google AdSense or even better you can have your own online store. Also you could use the web space as a data back up centers for your data and files.Aesthetics and Effectiveness

Having an aesthetically pretty web design is only useful to the extent it motivates people to do one of the above actions. Many hotels hire a designer to build a site that has some aesthetic quality but the website ends up being hard to read, hard to find information, hard to navigate, and frustrating.

The first and perhaps the biggest advantage of dedicated web hosting is stability and reliability. Your server has a higher uptime if there are no other users on the same server. With others sharing the same server, you have a risk overloading the server. It is also possible that some of the webmasters of the other sites on the same server can be beginners that write code that will crash the server.

If your website looks plain, is often down, does not have an e-mail subscriber form, or has broken links and does not provide the visitor with a unique experience, then you will need to re-group and consider ways to improve your professional image online.

Revenue generation:

A custom web design sees to it that the buyer is provided the billing instantaneously and the payment is done without any flaw. This kind of website assures the buyer that the password and username used for money transfer are not going to be misused or divulged to any other identity.

What web hosting providers like Bluehost and Lunarpages do is to provide the storage space in the hard drive. They divide the hard drive into small partitions and let subscribers to store their files and data there. While preparing the storage, they also need to maintain and safe guard the internet connections making sure that no traffic congestion will happen. And in return the subscribers will pay them monthly for the service.

Traffic:

A tailored website is made to attract maximum traffic. The more the traffic, the more are the conversions and consequently more the sales and revenue generation. The custom website is designed to attract the target audience after researching on their behavior and attitude. The template website is hardly ever buyer oriented.

If you write words that offer valuable content about any topic, and that topic is one that people are interested in (with a world population in the billions, try to find a topic that some folks aren’t interested in!) and you use a simple program to turn your written words into a pretty neat web site (helping you avoid taking the time and expense to become a web site developer yourself) then you can make money on the web.

Since web hosting is one of the foundations of the internet, do you really understand what it actually is. A simple illustration is your computer. Imagine you home PC with a quad core processors, a few Gigabytes of memory, a server motherboard and an extremely big hard drive. That sounds like a server computer in data centers and the storage space in the hard drive is what we call web hosting. Not forgetting a quality fiber optic connection to the internet access point making the files stored in the hard drive accessible by the world.

The important characteristics you should look out for when selecting a secure hosting are – bandwidth and hard-disk space limits, database and development languages support. The bandwidth and hard-disk space depend on what your web-site is promoting and how many times it will be visited so if you are a big company with big concepts for the future you will need a hosting plan with unlimited bandwidth and hard-disk space.

Internet is now no longer connecting just website but connecting human to human. The World Wide Web has become part of our live whether you realize it or not. From net surfing, news reading, match making to online or offline shopping, credit card transactions. All cannot be separated from the internet. That explains why web hosting is never been that important before.

You may notice interesting web design techniques being used by other web designers, but you want to innovate, not copy. Create original features that can’t be found elsewhere and are better than those your competition provides. Your web design work will be more effective and more memorable if you remember to keep it creative.

Launch it, sell it, close it. This model is what a lot of Internet entrepreneurs like best. Generating freedom for yourself and having the ability for people to access the course whenever they want is an awesome feeling of freedom. Your clients get everything and you, the entrepreneur, do not have to re-record everything over and over again. Evergreen is “key” to monetizing your content to freedom.

Using colors with text is tricky. Web designers used to erroneously think that bright colors would attract people to read something. They also felt that some type of rainbow effect was useful or would be catchy somehow. It was actually more kitsch than catch.

A perfectionist never tolerates any deviation from the standards. He/she is only concerned about delivering high quality web designs but hardly cares for the opinion of others. On the contrary he/she looks upon others as having inferior knowledge. He/she hardly gives any importance to money. He wants the design to be prepared according to his/her perception and not according to what the client thinks. A perfectionist usually considers him/her a cut above the rest. And you know what? The main uses of the Web are not physicists. So how did we get from there to here? A popular way of understanding science and understanding technical innovation is to imagine that innovations take off because they’re very clever and because they’re designed to achieve certain outcomes. So one answer to that question, how do we get from there to here, would be to say, well, it was designed to do that, and it’s a really clever technology.

From the Web came the huge promise of equalizing access to information but what contradicts this is the barrier preventing people from accessing new information because what most search engines are doing is indexing the popular sites that have more links to them.

When it comes to locating pages what the search providers use are user registration and following links and these are their two main methods. It has been written by researchers that search engines are to blame for making a biased sample of the Web due to them following links to find new pages leading them to find and index pages that have more links to them. Such a situation does not mean that there is an inability to do the indexing, the problem here is that resources have been devoted to other benefits for users like free email which is considered to be highly valuable.

The second and perhaps as important benefit is customization. With a dedicated server you get to choose the server operating system and all the features of the server. If you need special server software or extensions there is no one telling you it can’t be done. You can even choose which control panel you will use to manage the server.

Capacity– How much data can be stored on the drive. This is measured in Gigabytes (GB). Note that hard disk manufacturers use what is known as a decimal Gigabyte, which is 10 to the power 9 or 1,000,000,000 bytes. Computers use what is known as a binary Gigabyte, which is 2 to the power 30 or 1,073,741,824 bytes. Therefore the hard disk capacity in GB claimed by the manufacturer is smaller than the number your computer will report. This has been standard practise for many years, but it can catch out beginners. You will need to choose a disk with several times more capacity than your website takes up, in order to leave space for future growth.

Green hosting also makes a statement about your company’s corporate culture and your concern for the future of the planet. That’s a good thing. Seeing the “green” logo on your site’s home page is a trust builder and a brand builder, as well.

Business web hosting is oriented towards personal or commercial business plans that include creating a functional, reliable and safe web-site which can server your clients for information and orders. It is important for the future of your web-site to choose a good and reliable secure web hosting which can ensure you with unlimited bandwidth and hard-disk space and other extras and options depending on your plans for the web-site. But not all of these statements are true – many of them just seek personal benefits by just taking you are money and giving you an unreliable and poor quality services which can result in you losing clients of you are using that web hosting for a business web-site. And that is why we are here to offer you the best plans that can provide you with high quality services and reliable support.

Document it- Serial numbers are important. Keep a photograph of the box of the new computer you purchase so that you have your serial number on hand at all times. If that computer does get stolen, you can give that serial number to the police.

Green hosting isn’t some passing fad or some 60s hippie thing. It’s the future of hosting. It has to be. So, look for a host that employs wind power to generate the juice to run the servers to host the web site – yours.

A unique IP address is the fifth important advantage. With a dedicated server you are guaranteed to have a unique IP address. A shared server has one IP address and special header-reading software determines which website traffic is directed to which actual site. This can slow down a server. Upgradeability is the sixth advantage. You are free to upgrade your dedicated server any way you like.

Many of the hotels, adventure tours, and travel agencies that tell me, “websites don’t really work for the hotel business”, or “we already have a good enough web site”, or “we use EasySiteBuilder or a Do-It-Yourself website”, have a common flaw: the web design is not effective at motivating visitors and/or converting visitors to leads.

Under this can be counted access to a control panel, such as CPanel, Plesk or Helm, that will help you with setting up of emails, sub-domains, software installations and your MySQL database if you are running dynamic functionality such as shopping carts, forums, Content Management Systems etc.

What unique experiences have you done or done for someone else? That is what you should write about and focus on. Although you might not consider yourself an “expert”, when you make the shift to understand that you know something valuable which can be taught to people, you are in a much more powerful position to generate revenue.
