That’s the view of former Premier League defender Joleon Lescott, who played for United’s rivals Manchester City.

Reports have suggested that Mourinho and Pogba had a big bust-up this week, however Manchester United have strongly denied this claim.

It’s been suggested that Mourinho had warned Pogba, who won the World Cup with France this summer, not to speak to the media following the 25-year-old’s recent comments.

Pogba had said: “There are things and there are things that I cannot say otherwise I will get fined.”

It comes with Barcelona still reportedly interested in taking Pogba to the Nou Camp, with La Liga clubs able to buy players up until August 31.

The former Juventus man starred as United got their Premier League campaign up and running with a 2-1 win Liverpool Fodboldtrøjer over Leicester last Friday.

Indeed Pogba, who captained United, scored a penalty in that game following a long discussion with Alexis Sanchez over who would take the spot-kick.

And Lescott believes Pogba clearly has the power at United, with the former Everton defender believing the story regarding a bust-up started with the Frenchman.

“The details of the story suggest it has come from somewhere, possibly from Pogba’s side, I don’t know why Mourinho would want to leak that,” Lescott said on Sky Sports’ The Debate.

“I think the power is with Paul Pogba, if you think of the value of Pogba to Man Utd, and what Mourinho means, Pogba means more, in terms of future earnings, progressing and being a force again.

“I think it is Jose’s best interest to stop this, and maybe stroke Pogba’s ego a bit.

“He may not be used to that or want to do that, but Man Utd need Paul Pogba more than they need Jose Mourinho, it’s sad to say.

“It’s the way the game has gone. Pogba is a phenomenal player, there’s no doubt about that.

‘I don’t know if anyone is questioning Mourinho’s tactical ability, but I don’t think as a man manager he has evolved enough for this new generation of players.”

Pogba will next be on TV when United travel to Brighton for their second Premier League game of the season on Sunday (4pm).

But former Manchester United striker Alan Brazil believes Mourinho should get rid of the Old Trafford academy product.

“I’m not happy with him (Pogba), Leverkusen Fodboldtrøjer I think he’s arrogant, he’s aloof,” Brazil said on talkSPORT.

“The way he struts about, if he was playing eight-out-of-ten every week then I’d say, ‘well he’s got a point’, but he hasn’t, not for me.

“You look at (Kevin) De Bruyne, you look at (David) Silva. Week-in, week-out they are brilliant for City.

“This guy comes along, and there’s no doubting his ability, but something is just not right.

‘I think Jose is right to say, ‘look, you’re annoying the dressing room, you’re annoying me, you’re annoying the rest of the boys, if you don’t like it, see you later’.

“It’s best to get rid. Yes (I think it would strengthen United), I do.

“Every week I’m reading about it, Pogba, Pogba – I’m sick of it to be honest.”
