If you’re a Hollywood star, you can get a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame, right? Wrong. The folks who decide who’s in and who’s out on the walk say a certain kind of TV personality will never make the cut.

For decades, CBS News Contributor Priya David Clemens reports, stars from the worlds of movies, music and TV have been immortalized with their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ana Martinez, a publicist associated with the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremonies, told CBS News, “The criteria for getting a star is longevity in the field of entertainment of five years or more, awards, Emmys, Oscars, Grammys, and philanthropic work that they do. And they have to be working actors, singers who have made an impact the entertainment community.

However, sometimes the decision committee bends the rules. Stars were granted for Donald Duck, Tinker Bell and even Lassie. But you will never see stars for  “Jersey Shore”‘s Pauly D, “The Situation,” or Snooki.

Asked in a Facebook posting if reality stars would ever get a Hollywood star, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said, “Hell to the no.”

Martinez said, “I said no in certain words, and it became a little — it went viral, you could say.”

So they’ve not only snookered Snooki, they’ve dashed the hopes of the Kardashians, and shut the door on “The Real Housewives.”

“The Early Show” visited Hollywood Boulevard and asked if reality stars belong on the Walk of Fame. The resounding answer seemed to be “no.”

One said, “It’s all for the public to see how ridiculous and loud and obnoxious they can be. That’s what draws people to them, so I don’t think they belong here at all.”

Another said, “Definitely not. Definitely not. They’re not, 사설 총판 like, getting famous for acting or music or directing.”

And still another, “Snooki is famous for her big poof and partying like a crazy person.”

A child told CBS News, “They have nothing really to show. They have no real talent besides talking, and that doesn’t earn a star, that does not earn you a star.”

When asked recently if he’s upset that he can’t get a star on the Walk of Fame, Pauly D of “Jersey Shore,” said, “Yes. (It’s) really upset that’s something I always wanted.”

Each year, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce approves around 24 new stars from a pool of about 300 nominations. Ten million visitors come to see the Walk of Fame each year.
