South African-born Darren Holden has been released by English League Two club Hartlepool Football club, it was announced today.
Holden, is one of six Hartlepool players released by the club, who just escaped relegation, after finishing 22nd in League Two.
The twenty-one-year-old played in just eleven games Benfica Fodboldtrøjer this season for the club, though he was a regular in their match squads, but spent most of the time on the bench.
Holden, Marlon Harewood, Stuart Parnaby, Tommy Miller, Jack Compton and Johnny Maxted are the six players released.
He debuted for the club back in April 2011, after a number of years in their youth and reserve set-up.
The club released a statement saying, “The chairman and everyone at the club would like to thank all of the above players for their services and commitment and wish them all Barcelona Fodboldtrøjer the very best for the future.”
Holden said his goodbyes on social media, Tweeting, ”Had a good 5 years at HUFC but it’s time for me to move on, want to thank all the staff, players and fans for being so good to me #NSD”.
