Jose Mourinho is set to continue his recent decision to rest some of Manchester United’s first team players by handing debuts to two young players against Southampton.

In case anyone was wondering how much Jose Mourinho has cared about the league in recent weeks one only has to look at Wayne Rooney’s presence in the team.

Rooney had barely played any football this calendar year but Juventus tröja he has started the last four Premier League games for United.

Despite goals against Burnley and last weekend against Spurs he has looked even more a shadow of his former club than he has for the rest of the season.

With Mourinho putting all his eggs in one basket, the Europa League final, there has been plenty of rotation in recent weeks during the distraction of the league.

Just to annoy the manager even more the team have to play Southampton tomorrow night and according to reports he’s set to hand youngsters Scott McTominay and Demetri Mitchell their debuts.

McTominay made his debut against Arsenal at the weekend but along with Mitchell is expected to start against the Saints after missing a reserve game against Tottenham last night.

Mitchell is yet Barcelona målvaktströja to come onto the field having been on the bench for the last few games as Mourinho has rotated his squad.

Josh Harrop could yet find himself in the squad for the match tomorrow having scored a hat-trick in under 23 game yesterday.

19 year old Axel Tuanzebe has also been playing for United recently.

It’s certainly a change from Mourinho’s stance of not playing many young players.
