(CBS) Just as the new season of “Weeds” is about to begin, there is already chatter about the show coming to an end.
Even series creator Jenji Kohan doesn’t know whether Nancy Botwin will be back after this season ends.

“I don’t know. My deal’s up in January and I haven’t heard anything yet from the network or the studio, so I honestly couldn’t tell you,” she told the Los Angeles Times.
When asked if she was writing the show as if the end is near, Kohan said she’s keeping her options open.
“I’ve got two plans,” she laughed. “My favorite thing is having options.”

Season 7 picks up three years after last season left off, with Botwin (Mary Louise Parker) being released from prison and moving into a halfway house in New York City. Meanwhile, Andy (Justin Kirk), Shane (Alexander Gould), Silas (Hunter Parrish) and Doug (Kevin Nealon) have been living in Copenhagen.
According to E! Online, the Botwins will pick up their weed-dealing ventures again in NYC, but their business angers some college kids who are also dealing in the area.
The season premiere airs tonight at 10 p.m. EDT on Showtime.
