Kiawe’s Charizard (Japanese: カキのリザードン Kaki’s Lizardon) was one of the two original Pokémon acquired by Kiawe in the Alola region prior to the start of the Sun & Moon series, having received it from his grandfather. Kiawe often uses it as a Ride Pokémon.

With Kiawe’s grandfather

Charizard with a younger Kiawe and his grandfather

Prior to the start of the Sun & Moon series, Charizard used to be under the ownership of Kiawe’s grandfather. Sometimes, he would take his grandson along for the ride to teach him how to fly Charizard.

With Kiawe

Charizard and Kiawe

Ever since Kiawe’s grandfather gave Charizard to him, Kiawe has used it as transport, usually from his home on Akala Island, to Melemele Island, in order to attend the Pokémon School. He also uses it in his job of delivering his families own dairy made products to places on Akala and other islands in Alola. It first appeared in Alola to New Adventure!, where Team Skull members Tupp, Rapp, and Zipp tried beating Kiawe in a battle so they could steal Charizard. While Kiawe beat them with Turtonator, Charizard chose to lay down and relax, unworried about the battle.

Starting in A Mission of Ultra Urgency!, Charizard has been used by Kiawe as his Ride Pokémon during the Ultra Guardians missions. In Twirling with a Bang!, it helped to create the Super Special Pokémon Fireworks move, distracting the wild Xurkitree and Blacephalon long enough for them to be captured.

In I Choose Paradise!, Charizard joined the rest of the Ride Pokémon on a trip to the Pokémon Paradise Resort for a day of relaxation. During the day Charizard enjoyed a hot spring and massage alongside his Trainer. Later in the day Team Rocket stole some of the groups Pokémon, but failed to restrain the Ride Pokémon. Together they managed to rescue them and used a combined attack to send Team Rocket blasting off.

In Full Moon and Many Arms!, Charizard joined the Ride Pokémon on a pursuit to stop Necrozma from attacking and absorbing Lunala. Charizard managed to hit it with Flamethrower, allowing Dragonair, Metang, and Flygon to attack it as well, though it shrugged the attacks off and retaliated.

In Securing the Future!, Charizard joined the rest of Alola in showering Necrozma with light so it could return to its normal form.

Charizard was used in Run, Heroes, Run! to fly Kiawe from Poni Island to the Ruins of Life after Ash, his Pokémon, and the rest of Kiawe’s Pokémon had been imprisoned by Tapu Fini. At the ruins, Kiawe encountered Tapu Lele, and begged it to give him some of its scales to save his friends, but it refused to do so without a battle. Without hesitation Charizard volunteered, but was no match against the Land Spirit Pokémon’s Psychic-type attacks. After saving Kiawe from some collapsing ruins, the two fled into the air, only to be hit by Tapu Lele’s Psybeam. Kiawe struggled to think of what to do, but remembered a lesson his grandfather had taught him, helping him to land a direct hit with Aerial Ace. Impressed with the two, Tapu Lele gave Kiawe some of its scales and left. Charizard then flew Kiawe back to Poni Island, but was unable to return to the Ruins of Hope. Kiawe recalled Charizard and ran the rest of the way. At the ruins, Tapu Fini used the scales Kiawe had brought to heal Charizard and handed Kiawe a Flyinium Z. Kiawe and Charizard then proceeded to perform Supersonic Skystrike together.

Personality and characteristics

Charizard enjoying a bath at the hot springs

Charizard is a very relaxed Pokémon. In Alola to New Adventure!, it chose to sleep where it was while Kiawe and his Turtonator were battling Tupp, Rapp, and Zipp over its ownership. Although it is usually a calm Pokémon, it can become angry, as seen before Kiawe battled the Team Skull Grunts, when they said that they wanted to take Charizard for themselves. In the same episode, despite wanting to sleep, it perked up after Ash brought up the fact that he just spotted Tapu Koko. Unlike most Charizard, it is unafraid of water, as shown in I Choose Paradise! when it willingly went into a hot spring. It was even revealed by its Trainer that it likes to take long baths. Much like the rest of Kiawe’s Pokémon, it enjoys Poni Island radishes, as shown in Evolving Research!.

A Bulbapedia namespace is an indicator of what sort of content is maintained on the page. There are currently 22 different valid namespaces on Bulbapedia. The namespace of every page is given in the page title and is shown by the page’s prefix. For example, the page “User:Example” is in the User: namespace, and the page “Talk:Pokémon” is in the Talk: namespace.

List of namespaces

Main namespace

This article is in the mainspace.

The mainspace is where all Bulbapedia articles are located. This namespace is unique in that the pages are not prefixed; a page in this namespace would be titled as “Pokémon” rather than “Main:Pokémon”. Bulbapedians are encouraged to edit the mainspace productively to improve the content and quality of our encyclopedia.

Only edits made to the mainspace are counted for the list of top contributors.

Talk namespace

The talk namespace is where all discussions related to the mainspace are kept. The discussions on these pages are not intended for chat, speculation, or opinions about the subject, and must comply with Bulbapedia’s talk page policy. For casual, non-article related discussion, make use of the Bulbagarden forums.

Every single page, regardless of namespace, has a talk page attached to it. The talk page may or may not have already been created; if not then a red link will appear on the top menu bar. You are welcome to create the page if you have an issue about the page to discuss.

User namespace

The userspace is where registered Bulbapedia users may post a short autobiography about themselves, or test new articles or templates that may be put into the mainspace later on. It is not intended to be a substitute to Facebook; editing the userspace is restricted by the userspace policy.

User talk namespace

The user talk namespace is where users can direct questions, comments, or feedback to other users. Like the talk namespace, it is not for chat or social networking, and must be used for Bulbapedia matters only.

Bulbapedia namespace

The Bulbapedia namespace is for detailing Bulbapedia policy. A large number of pages in this namespace are for staff use only.

It is accompanied by the Bulbapedia talk namespace.

File namespace

The file namespace is where pictures and images are stored. In previous iterations of Mediawiki software, it was known as the image namespace.

All images in the file namespace are stored on the Bulbagarden Archives. For discussion about these images, please refrain from using the file talk namespace on Bulbapedia; instead raise matters in the Archives file talkspace.

MediaWiki namespace

The MediaWiki namespace is the interface with which Bulbapedia interacts. Editing the MediaWiki namespace changes how Bulbapedia appears for its users, and is enabled for bureaucrats and Editorial Board members only. Any user may raise an issue about the MediaWiki software on a MediaWiki talk page, but a faster reply may come from directly speaking with a staff member.

Template namespace

The template namespace is where preprogrammed pages are stored. These templates are designed to be transcluded or substituted onto pages for quick and standardized use.

It is accompanied by the template talk namespace.

Category namespace

The category namespace groups together articles with a similar focus or with similar needs. This allows for easy searching for browsers to Bulbapedia, and allows editors to find articles that need improvement.

Categorization occurs in tree-like structures. Every category is categorized into another category; every page in the mainspace (except the Main Page) must be categorized.

Unlike other namespaces, pages in the category namespace cannot be moved or redirected, and must instead be deleted and recreated if the name is wished to be changed.

Shipping namespace

The shipping namespace is unique to Bulbapedia. All articles related to Pokémon shipping are confined here, as shipping is primarily comprised of speculation, as opposed to the remainder of Bulbapedia, which is based on fact.

Appendix namespace

The appendix namespace is largely used for articles which may be considered “guides” or “strategy” and are not fit for mainspace use. For example, all of Bulbapedia’s walkthroughs are contained in the appendix namespace.

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Sladoled!

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

Be nice to everyone. It’s in the code of conduct.

Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they’re perfect the first time around.

Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.

Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.

You can’t create a userpage until you’ve added to the encyclopedia. It’s a privilege. See the userspace policy.

Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don’t “edit war,” or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.

If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you’re still stuck, ask for help. The staff won’t bite.

Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.

For more handy links, see the welcome portal.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here!  ☼ BlazingFist ☼ 18:29, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
