A Chelsea fan who made a staggering 13 Nazi gestures in a 15 minute period tried to covering his tracks with a whole host of excuses.

Richardson was caught in the act when an image of him started doing the rounds on a forum on Kick It Out – the charity looking to tackle all forms of discrimination within football.

The prosecutor for BVB Borussia Dortmund Fußballtrikot Hammersmith Crown Court Robert Simpson detailed the incident:

It was the Chelsea Tottenham game, and the defendant was seen by members of the public doing a Nazi salute towards the Tottenham fans.

“A photograph was placed on a forum of Kick It Out, and he was identified by Chelsea football club. He had his arm out at a 90 degree angle in a Nazi salute.

“Asked in interview by police he said he didn’t know what it was, and asked if he had seen it in war films he said he didn’t think so.

“He told them he was waving to friends but couldn’t name any.”

The defendant claimed he had no idea of what the sign connotated despite admitting to a religious harassment charged.

“I Barcelona Fußballtrikot didn’t know at the time what it meant, now I’ve researched it I do. Everyone was doing it, so I thought I would do it. I’m not a racist, I was just an idiot.”

Following on from the incident, Richardson had his season ticket suspended, while he was also hit with a £250 fine and a three-year ban from attending football games.
