Gary Neville has been appointed head coach of Valencia until the end of the season.
Valencia are at home to Barcelona on Saturday but Neville will not take over until Sunday. Neville’s brother Phil, who was named interim coach this week along with his co-coach Voro following the resignation of Nuno Espírito Santo on Sunday evening, will be in charge for the Barça game.

Sky Sports, for whom he has worked as a pundit since 2011, said he would be leaving the channel with immediate effect though “the door will always be open should he wish to return”.
Neville, who recently completed his Pro Licence course at St George’s Park, will continue in his coaching role with England. “I am absolutely thrilled to be given this opportunity with Valencia,” he said. “Valencia are a huge football club of immense standing and I know from my time as a player the passion and dedication of the Valencia fans. billig fodboldtrøjer I am really looking forward to working with the club’s talented group of players and am excited about the challenge ahead.” A press conference with Gary Neville is due to be held on Thursday afternoon at the Mestalla Stadium.
The former Manchester United defender’s appointment at Valencia was welcomed by England’s manager, Roy Hodgson. “I’m delighted that Gary has decided to take this excellent opportunity. It’s the right moment in time for him and I’m 100% behind his decision to join Valencia as the new head coach,” he said. “As far as I’m concerned, this will be an extra string to his bow and the experience he will gain working in the Spanish league can only be beneficial to our work together with the England team. Gary’s commitment to the FA’s preparations for Euro 2016 will not be in any way affected by the fact that he will be coaching abroad during the next five months.”

Valencia said in a statement: “CF have today appointed Gary Neville as head coach until the end the season. He will officially take charge of the first team on Sunday 6 December ahead of the Uefa Champions League match against Lyon at Mestalla on Wednesday 9 December.”
The club is owned by Peter Lim, the Singaporean businessman who also has a 50% stake in Salford City which he co-owns with The Class of 92 – Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.
Valencia’s president, Layhoon Chan, said: “We are delighted to have secured Gary so quickly. He combines top level coaching experience through his role as a senior coach with the England national team and a world-class playing career with England and Manchester United. Throughout his career Gary has always shown great leadership both on and off the pitch. He is hugely respected in English football and it was his personal qualities which persuaded us that he was the right choice to lead Valencia fodboldtrøjer med tryk until the end of the season.”

Valencia, who were champions in 2002 and 2004 under Rafael Benítez, currently lie ninth in La Liga, five points off the Champions League places. They are third in their Champions League group but still in with a chance of making the knockout stage.

Sky Sports’ managing director, Barney Francis, added: “We wish Gary all the very best as he returns to football with our blessing and begins his managerial career with Valencia. Neville thanked Sky saying “they have fully supported and understood the decision that I have made to go to Valencia for the next five months”.
